April 1st let me say I absolutely love your videos and your recipes! 2nd I just want to tell you how much I appreciate you saying what you did about bees & their wax. Our family of 5 raise honey bees and I can tell you we LOVE them! Our life is devoted to their health and happiness. We raise them because we adore those little girls and we know they are the reason we are able to forage, farm and eat the way we do. I use the wax to make all types of products from balms, candles and wax wraps to re lining new hive boxes. I ordered some once because it was on sale…ohmygoodness it was so gross and toxic!! Bees are proud of their work and in a healthy, active colony there is no shortage of excess wax (you aren’t taking the wax that they are actually using) All that being said, have a wonderful, blessed day April. This girl can’t get enough of your inspiration ❤

This goes way beyond what I do for my salves. Thank you for the education! I use coconut oil and plants dried out for a day or so, like plantain, and infuse on the stove for hours. I buy a block of beeswax and grate it as needed. Plantain, comfrey, bee balm, and goldenrod are my favorites to make and use. We have mosquitos so we use a lot of the plantain salve for bites. Instant relief!

The problem with crock pots, for food or salves, is the lead in the glaze used to coat the inner pot. And because a crock pot works on a much lower heat setting, whatever is in there has to sit for several hours. Which is the reason I never use crock pots, for anything. Stainless steel or tempered glass only. No plastic or aluminum utensils either, no microwaving of ingredients EVER and which I see so many people recommend because they're in too much of a damn rush, and absolutely NO TEFLON COATED cooking vessels. I've been working with herbs in many capacities for many years and am glad to see someone doing this well, as well as doing things logically, unworried about political correctness or other such bullshit. I have attended some herbal gatherings but have never paid for any courses or certifications. My grandparents had far more knowledge than people pimping the fact that they are certified, as well as their instructors. This is a field which should be respected and carried on in an organic, traditional manner, from teacher to student to teacher, directly. This knowledge should be passed on generationally, as aboriginal peoples have been doing for millennia. You're doing a good job for someone so much younger than my own generation. The answer for candelilla wax is that its much harder than beeswax, so you need to experiment with your volumes because you will need significantly less. Personally, I don't like the stuff. Its too refined and I don't like the texture of it in anything. I use raw beeswax, for everything. I simply strain out the bee bits. The healing properties in raw beeswax are phenomenal. I buy my raw beeswax in very large chunks and slabs. I melt my beeswax in a large double boiler over med-low heat and let it set at room temperature in silicone ice cube trays until solid. Never plastic. I then pop the cubes out, which are the same volume or weight each, and store them in a large glass jar or a cotton bag so it can breathe. Plastic sucks for storing herbs, oils, butters, waxes etc. Thanks for the effort in putting the video together.
@anastrawberry80473 жыл бұрын
Thank you for such an informative comment! I have a couple of doubts, if you could help me: What do you think is better then, to keep the wax in glass containers? or in cotton bags so they can breath? And another question, all the ceramic crockpots have lead? I didn't know about that. I am very careful while choosing all my cooking utensils, but not very familiar with crockpots (they are not popular in Spain). Thanks! 😊
