We always add cabbage to my husband's Grandma's Vegetable Soup. I think it adds a good flavor (and some fiber). It's unusual to add 2 kinds of sausage. I think it would be fine with just one of those (or even hamburger meat).

I have an Amish cookbook that has a cabbage recipe in it that I made. Using chicken instead of sausage and oh my goodness it is so good. I have to try this one. Thank you for sharing.

Mama Sue, is the bacon grease you mention some that you saved from frying bacon, or something you bought? I have a bacon grease container I keep in the frig, and it is so handy to have. It gives the best taste to different dishes. ♥️😂🌹

My MIL used to cook a cabbage soup with Velveeta in it and it was delicious. I wish I had the recipe. Yours looks yummy. I'll bet it would be good with Velveeta in it.

I have tried to grow vegetables in my backyard. I have tried natural bug repellent. I have tried Sevendust and the bugs eat right through the poison and eat up my garden. My neighbors have had the same experience. Any suggestions? I would love to be able to grow peas and tomatoes, and squash ! The only thing that I was able to grow in my backyard that did not get eaten up was herbs !
