I eat cabbage soup too. I do preserve the health benefits of garlic by adding it shortly before soup is finished. I use both traditional garlic and Elephant Garlic which is actually from leek family. I season with ground turmeric and fresh cracked black pepper. I am 70 lbs lighter now at 75 yo.

I love cabbage. I spent many many summers and anytime I could at my Grandmothers. They had fresh vegetables and she was a great cook. That is when I started loving fresh vegetables. Cabbage was my favorite, mustard greens, okra and even carrots. I cook them for my family now, not as much. Only one eats country food but in the military one of my sons learned to eat lots of vegetables he needed to eat.

Cabbage soup and cabbage rolls are one of my most favorite ever!😋 I make my cabbage rolls with uncooked ground beef, a little bit of rice, uncooked, seasonings and one or two eggs. I add all of the above to a large bowl and mix it all together just as I was going to make meatloaf. Then I set the bowl aside. Then I put my cabbage head (cut in half) into some boiling water to soften it for a few minutes. Then I cut around the head of the softened cabbage to easily remove the cabbage leaves so they don’t rip., it set them onto a plate folded in half. If needed, I will put my cabbage head back in the boiling water for a few more minutes to soften the leaves before take off more cabbage leaves. Then I put a scoop of the ground beef mixture into the cabbage, leave and fold it up and add a few toothpicks. Then after all have been filled, I placed extra leaves in the bottom of a Dutch oven. Then I add condensed tomato soup and water and mix well. I placed all my cabbage rolls in the Dutch oven and cover the remaining with water just to the top of the cabbage rolls and add any extra leaves that were left over. I then placed the Dutch oven onto the stove on medium low until it comes to a boil and then on low until it’s thoroughly cooked and the cabbage is tender. This is how I love my cabbage soup. I don’t add any vegetables or anything else. I’m trying to figure out how to cook cabbage soup, the same exact way, but not rolled into cabbage rolls.! More like a shredded cabbage soup opposed to cabbage rolls. This recipe in this video looks very inviting, and I may try this even with the vegetables!❤

A couple health suggestions are these: It can’t be healthy cooking in non stick cookware & plastic utensils as they are toxic. Make sure everything you buy is organic. Make you’re own bone broth & use that. It’s way healthier & has more nutrition than anything you can buy in the stores. Use only filtered or spring water in bottles, not in plastic. Ditch ALL oils & use beef tallow instead. It’s a game changer!

I've only ever made this with can tomatoes, but I think fresh tomatoes would work. It might not hold up as well though and you might need a little more salt.

Hi, diced tomatoes are more than enough for the measurements of the broth & water, i think u need to add a bit of sugar to balance the acidity of the tomatoes. Just saying.... watching from the Phippines...
