This might not be the faster way but definitely easier way. I can't tell you how many times I have been in a king and rook vs king position trying to box in the king and have stalemated plenty of times, plus that method is so much stressful for 1200 elo player. This method in video seems so much easier.

@@OtaconAlonsus There is a faster way, at 1:22 instead of playing Kg5 you can play Rg4 and cut off the king at the left edge of the board and then proceed to checkmate. Remember you can cut off the king not only vertically but also horizontally.

Nah bro, the way I do it (Kinda sorta stumbled upon it after learning KQK mate) is definitely easier. Connect the rook and king and rook will push opponent into smaller and smaller area. Opponent is continuously in Zugzwang so it is pretty easy to learn

I was first taught the box technique. I quickly forgot it because this technique this just that much more intuitive. Ideally, you know both, but this technique is at least fine enough for rapid, which is what I play. Fine enough = sub 1600

When you play chess as a profession and don't even know how to checkmate the fastest with a rook 😂😂😂 This method takes forever to corner the king. It's more like the longest possible road. Especially the 3:03 missed mate in 2 😂😂😂

What the hell is this? Overcomplicating a simple thing. Only thing you have to do is connect your rook and king and push the other king to corner. Once the other king is in the corner, simple backrank mate

@@bc1173 Unless this method is significantly better than mine, I don't understand why it has to be this hard with so many possibilities. If the opponent king is always in zugzwang and moves to the corner all by themselves, no check needed, then my method is obviously easier to apply

This is the most stupid way to mate with a rook. Use zugzwang again and again to box in the king and deliver a faster mate, don't just wait for zugzwang after you make 20 king moves wtf.

For the beginners this is perfect. That 'boxing' technique will land them to a stalemate otherwise. And BTW, she's an IM, so she knows a thing or two more about chess than us in the comment section .

In your second “sentence” there should be a comma after “sentences”. Instead of “from”, it should be “against”.
