This might not be the faster way but definitely easier way. I can't tell you how many times I have been in a king and rook vs king position trying to box in the king and have stalemated plenty of times, plus that method is so much stressful for 1200 elo player. This method in video seems so much easier.

@@OtaconAlonsus There is a faster way, at 1:22 instead of playing Kg5 you can play Rg4 and cut off the king at the left edge of the board and then proceed to checkmate. Remember you can cut off the king not only vertically but also horizontally.

Nah bro, the way I do it (Kinda sorta stumbled upon it after learning KQK mate) is definitely easier. Connect the rook and king and rook will push opponent into smaller and smaller area. Opponent is continuously in Zugzwang so it is pretty easy to learn

I was first taught the box technique. I quickly forgot it because this technique this just that much more intuitive. Ideally, you know both, but this technique is at least fine enough for rapid, which is what I play. Fine enough = sub 1600
