I did it! I am 18 years old, and I never rode a bike. It was kind of a bad childhood. Two weeks ago, I saw one of my friends in college riding one, and it looked very fun. I was thinking that I don't want to die without giving it a try. So I talked to him and said that I never rode one. He started laughing and thought I was joking. He was in shock when he realized that I wasn't joking. After that, he and some other friends encouraged me to buy one, so I did. The first day of learning how to ride didn't go smoothly. It hurt to sit on the bike, and I couldn't move it. My friends started teaching me for about three hours, and then I started going in a straight line with the bike. It was a huge process for me, and after that, I fell and hurt my hand. It was very painful, and I could barely sleep that night. For a few days, I couldn't ride it because of my hand. Then I kept training with my friends, and I fell and hurt myself many times. It really wasn't easy. Today at 12 am, when I was about to sleep, I looked at the sky from my window, and I felt a weird positive energy. I took my bike and rode it. I was scared, but I did it anyway. I was heading to the beach near my home, and I was riding it well somehow, although I was very scared. After some time, I stopped and called my friends. I told them that I was going to the beach by bike. They thought I was joking since it was the middle of the night. I sent them a picture, and they were in shock. It was hilarious. Then they woke up, took their bikes, and followed me. We rode together, and it was like a dream for me two weeks ago. It was unforgettable memories. I am glad that I didn't give up learning and trying. It was completely worth it! :)

With support and encouragment we can do almost anything. Wanting to learn is the first step. No matter anyone's age they should always be challenging themselves to learn something new. That is a huge and meaningful part of life.

This works like a pro! I literally had my son walking and coasting to get a feel for balancing and gaining confidence for about 30 minutes for 1 day. The next day, I had him do the same, and before we left, I asked if he felt confident enough to give riding his brother's bike a try, and he said , "Yes." I gave him a little push for momentum, and he was gone with the wind. It was so easy that when I'd let him know that he was doing it all by himself he began smiling from ear to ear saying, "I don't know how I'm doing it, I don't know how I'm doing it," all while in awe and surprised himself that it was that easy.

lets goo, today i had bikes in my backyard that i found, and they work amazingly. I never knew how to ride one, and then I first started balance, then my mom helped me, but then let me go. Surprisingly, I did it. For the first time ever. I was so angry and frustrated that I couldn't get it, but all you need is patience. It only took me a day to learn.

I am learning how to ride a bike. Finally I learned a few weeks ago and I’m pretty good at it now it’s still pretty hard to ride up here because my legs get tired of the peddling so usually I go to my local park where there is a bunch of little speedbump like things, and I just weave around them lol

Amazing for my 8 year old , took stabilisers off and pedals for 3 hours over 2 evenings to get used to handling the bike as a balance bike and then he was riding with pedals unaided. I did take him into some uneven ground as a balance bike for the last 30 mins to test his balance properly. Thanks for this tutorial

I need advice, my kids are 9, 7, and 4 and so far I haven't successfully been able to teach any of them how to ride a bike! And they all 3 struggle with the same thing, they can't pedal. Like they just push with both feet and literally CANNOT get the hang of pedaling forward in a circle. I'm clearly not communicating how to do this correctly, any advice?

I can't believe people miss the obvious lesson in learning to ride a bike. Use the steering to keep your balance and use your balance to steer!!!! I sat with all my kids and taught them to steer into the direction they are leaning. I explained that this would put the bike back upright. After 5 minutes of practicing this and making it "instinct", they were riding on their own. Of course, how much steering depends on speed and that's something they figured out on their own. Then, to turn, they understood leaning was the first part, then steering into the lean. Again, how much leaning and steering depends and they figured it out.

so i finally succesfully rided a bike!!! im 9 yrs old and my life good. i got my bike last 1 or 2 weeks ago. when i started to try and learn it. it didnt work out! i didnt have training wheels at all. all i had to do was train without them. my brother got it in 3-4 days but i got it in a week. im a slow learner but, i learned how to do it and balanced really well. i learned it today with my dad. me, my dad and my brother has bikes. my dad would teach me how to do it so would my brother. when i learned it i was laughing and screaming "yay!!!" after that i learned how to turn and curve. i still feel like im on the bike tho, even when im just sitting down on my chair typing on this comment. can someone tell me why?

Please, no training wheels! With trainings wheels they learn to steer a car, not a two wheeled vehicle. Remove the taining wheels and the todler has to relearn how to control the vehicle, now a bike, no longer a «car». My grandson had a balance bike at 2 yrs age. 4 months later he «graduated» to a pedal bike. Now at 4 he is mountainbiking.

A balance bike, low seat, no pedals is a good start. If you also find a slight slope and can handle the speed either with your feet or handbrake, then you are ready to start!
