I looked it up in dictionaries and what I found is sometimes they are replaced by [jə] in unstressed syllables, that will be only a guess since I am not a linguist nor I looked for that but, in carefree speech, [j] can make schwa [ə] higher and more palatal so, it sounds more like a simpler *short* sound between the hight of [ɪ] as in dinner [ˈdɪnə] and [iː] as in beach [biːʧ], but more central. So, it is like schwa but your tongue is higher a bit.

So my advice would be - use it only when with good friends, otherwise you are most likely to open unwelcome exchange of words with simpletons who can't "read" between the lines 🙃
