My Revstar RSS20 (2 humbuckers) is quality wise and for playability easily the best guitar in my collection (a.o. Gibson LP, Fender Strat US, Ibanez 2350 LP lawsuit, Yamaha SG) . Best value for money I came across so far. Drawbacks: it does have a bit of a nose-dive, solved it by adding piece of lead near jack-plug. Also: the sound is not very distinguishing. My Strat is not as good as the Revstar, but its sound is so unique, that's what makes Fender special. As for my Gibson: an LP Signature 2013 ebony gold plated. Such a beauty, but the Revstar is a great looker too, and the RV neck is incredibly good.

I watched all the reviews and finally travelled hours Thomann to play it and compare with other guitars in my shopping list. Came back home with an Ibanez Q52 :)

Das heißt aber nicht, dass die Revstars schlecht sind. Man muss die Gitarre wirklich ausprobieren. Da spielen so viel Faktoren eine Rolle. Eins von den unzähligen Influencer Videos anschauen und dann bestellen ist dumm! Ich habe eine Revstar RSS20 zufällig mal angetestet und die Gitarre passte nicht nur wie ein Maßanzug sondern ich mochte den Sound aus sehr. Der Sound entspricht genau meinen Vorstellung, meiner Spielweise und der Musikrichtung und Harmoniert super mit den Hughes & Kettners und dem Helix. Auch in der Band und im Mix findet sich immer ein Sound, der sich durchsetzt und passt. Ich habe mir darauf noch eine RSS20 in Merlot bestellt (Traumhaft schöne Farbe für mich) und dann eine RSS02. Letztere spiele ich am Liebsten. Meine Fender Tele Custom spiele ich auch noch aber die Fender Strat (US) und eine Gibson Paula sind jetzt Geschichte oder ich setzte sie mal mit anderer Stimmung ein. Die Revstars spielen sich für meine Hände traumhaft leicht und den Hals rauf und runter läuft völlig ohne Widerstand. Das ist bei Fender viel schwergängiger und ich hatte immer zu kämpfen. Die Revstars sind auch makellos verarbeitet und haben ein eigenes Design, welches mir auch sehr gut gefällt. Aber das trifft alles nur für mich zu. Deshalb kann für jemand anderes eine Ibanez Q52 sehr viel besser sein. Deshalb: Gitarre immer selbst ausprobieren!

It's called a dry switch on the version 1 guitars, and on those it drops the bass to sound more like a Fender single coil. On the version 2 guitars it's called a focus switch, and it drops the highs and boosts the lows and mids to sound more like a humbucker (as was demonstrated with the jazz example). edited: a word

Seriously looking at the Standard. Not very experienced though. My question is. Humbuckers or P90’s? Unfortunately, whichever one you choose it doesn’t come in the same colors .

P90 in this one.! Solely! Humbuckers are dull and generic in Revstar. P90 is where the music is.

well...humm, the problem is you don't really make a difference between P90 and humbucker loaded guitars and it's a huge difference but still those guitars are very attractive

Why dont we see anyone mentioning the plastic nut? is this nut acceptable to keep? like would I have to replace it or does this nut work well?

I have a first gen RS320. Bottom of the line. I paid $350 delivered. GREAT guitar. They're made with Nato, not mahogany. But that's semantics. Nato is a type of mahogany.

Im used to single coil, tele and strat, but I thought the Revstar was versatile enough with the 5 position switch, it seemed like a more versatile Les Paul ...

not in the neck both the pro and standard have the carbon. In the pro it also has carbon in the body

Be warned that the Indonesian made are not the same quality as the MIJ. I received my brand new Revstar RSS02T packaged from Yamaha and it had two high frets, tool marks on the fretboard, cracks in the binding, a poorly fitted, poorly cut nut, fisheyed paint spots and back bowed neck. Yamaha customer service was non-existent. Luckily the dealer paid for a local luthier to fix it up short of the tool marks and water in the paint so be warned!
