Ciao Giulia - Are you planning to make more of your delightful pronunciation videos, I hope? I just started teaching a 10-week class to a dozen students here in California and they LOVE your videos to help them get beautiful Italian sounds coming out of their American mouths. You do an excellent job! Have you seen the book FLUENT FOREVER by Gabriel Wyner. He trained as an opera singer and found without correct pronunciation, one will forever speak with a broken language. Getting the sounds right builds confidence to keep exploring the language and learning to actually communicate. We are all so grateful for your assistance getting started on this exciting journey to fluency in the beautiful Italian language!

I believe that I -- or anyone, could learn Italian at a faster and more comprehensive time frame -- having personal classes from you. I really like your method(s). I like that you emphasize certain things by alerting us that something is there to emphasize to the reader. For instance, a word like soppora (I know I misspelled it) has two "p" to alert the reader where the accent/emphasis should be placed. You mention this several times throughout you lessons and it's great; you're great! Could you/would you post the links (or tell how) of where you began, that is, the first lesson; second, etc. I'd like to learn from you in a sequence. Thank you!

Giulia Puoi spiegare la differenza tra i segni di accento in avanti e all'indietro sulle vocali? Grazie.
@italianlanguagehub2 жыл бұрын
Ciao Tommy!

Really great explanation thank you! I didn't realise that accents and stress are basically the same thing. I'm curious why a single syllable word like "dà" and "è" needs an accent if there is only one syllable, in that case there is only one place to put the stress anyway.
@italianlanguagehub4 жыл бұрын
Ciao Jonathan! Really happy to read that you liked the video and that it helped you! You need to put the accent on "è" (third person singular of the the verb to be... present tense) because you need to differentiate it from "e" (this is a conjunction : the english "and"). The pronunciation changes a little bit because of the accent...and graphically when you read it you know that they are two different things. Same thing goes with "dà" vs. "da"... without the accent it's a preposition ("da casa mia a casa tua") and with the accent it's the third person singular of the verb "dare" (present tense). I hope this helps! If you need further info let me know! Why do you pronounce casa with a 'z' sound?
@italianlanguagehub2 жыл бұрын
Ciao! Thank you for your comment! In standard Italian the word CASA should be pronounced with a "soft s" ("s sorda" /'kasa/) but there are some exceptions... for example in the North of Italy and in Sardinia the pronunciation tends to be that of a "z sounding S ( "S sonora" /'kaza/). In the central regions of Italy and in Sicily you will hear the pronunciation like /'kasa/. I'm in Lombardy and here we simply pronounce CASA with a "z sounding S". I hope I didn't confuse you too much with this reply! :) Visit www.italianlanguagehub.com for more information on Italian pronunciation! :)
@TheSicilianLife2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for explaining. I've never heard anyone pronounce the 's' as a 'z' ~ probably because I've only been in Sicily. :-)
@italianlanguagehub2 жыл бұрын
@@TheSicilianLife ciao! You are welcome! Other big “mistake” that we do here in the north is with the vowel E… in Sicily it is usually an open E and in Lombardy it’s a closed E! The correct option is that of the south… 😀
