Hello Mai, I'm interested in what is the difference between "tokoro" and "basho", when it comes to a place/location, etc.? Thanks for your effort and instructions best regards b.j.

Good question! I just wonder if you study Kanji since you came up with the idea. 場所 basho and 所 tokoro both mean place or location, but they are used in different situations. 1.場所 basho: It tends to indicate a specific physical location or geographical spot. この かぐ を、 おく 場所 が ない。 kono kagu o, oku basho ga nai. (=There is no place to put this furniture.) まちあわせ 場所 machi awase basho (=meeting place) してい 場所 shitei basho (=designated location) ========== 2. 所 or ところ tokoro: refer to a place or area (and a situation, moment, or aspect of something.) しずかな 所 ですね。(place, area) shizukana tokoro desune. (=This is a quiet place, isn't it?) すてき な 所 を みつけました。 sutekin tokoro o mitsuke mashita. (I found a nice place.) I find that most of the time you can replace tokoro with basho, but no the other way around, especially when you combine 場所 with other Kanji. I think that he best way to remember the differences is to memorize these words in sentences. I hope this will help!
