Alex, for both playing and tutorials, you've got one of the best guitar channels on YT. I don't know how your format could be improved. ... I'm subscribed both here and to your Insta, and I'm constantly amazed by how similar your diverse taste is to mine. Your mastery in so many styles is incredible -- I've got my hands full with just the jazz I gravitated to years ago.

Thank you so much! Always a pleasure to read your comments my friend 🙏🏻 Very glad to have met somebody else with such similar tastes as myself! I have so much love for so much music, in every style imaginable that I can quite easily get obsessive about a genre or a particular artist.. I have seasons in different styles I guess, although like yourself; Jazz is the main thing always bubbling away in the background in terms of providing plenty of things to practice and to work on. Thanks again for your lovely comment! Alex 🙏🏻❤️

Hi Alex. I just discovered your channel. You are the best overall KZbin teacher for me. I have all the same influences,Ribot, country swing,swing,jazz etc. and I want to learn about all that. I’ve been playing as a professional for 40 years but I am learning an incredible amount from you and you are a beautiful and tasteful player. Thanks a lot and I will definitely buy some tabs.

Alex I'm new to your channel but I love this approach to tutorials on a song. This allows us to really learn the song thouroughly. I also would to add beyond your killer playing, detailed tabs/ notation and great material selection, I really appreciate your lighting! I'm a nerd for visual aesthetics and your set up is really pleasant looking. Bravo all around.

I'm late to the party, but I think your idea for the channel (now realized in parts) is sound. It could appeal to a broad swath of the guitar-playing YT audience, including those who want to enrich their chord vocabulary and repertoire, those who aspire to improve their ability to solo within different chord structures (progressions/tunes), and those who dream of showcasing their skills in unaccompanied performances. (Of course, many of us have a stake in all three camps.). Enjoying the dozen videos I've watched so far, and have purchased a simple score and backing track to get started. Very high quality in the downloads! I'm a Patreon virgin (🥴), but considering taking that next step.

I like to start with basic changes so that I get to know the triads' voicings across the fingerboard. Then how to solo on those changes. Chord melody for me is the last thing I would like to learn because I find it difficult and I don't because you'll be using triads which I am now studying. Thanks.

Your lesson structures are very enjoyable , helpful and informative.The changes/chord choices/soloing lesson approach is a very good idea and takes one on a musical interesting musical journey. An idea regarding the bebop genre , Cherokee by Ray Noble seemed to be Charlie Parkers breakthrough moment when he "bebopped" the song , for jazz beginners an analysis of the thought processes behind his innovation could be most helpful.😊

@@AlexFarranGuitar those do indeed cover the waterfront of classic tube driven jazz and blues tone! i had a vintage princeton from a reputable source but after paying the "vintage" price i was immediately stuck with multiple repair bills--and that was after I found out the owner had just picked it up from the same shop for other issues. i promptly returned it to him. found an open-box fender custom shop hand wired "64" rPrinceton which I love and play almost everyday now for several years with zero issues. But, if your vintage amps are running great and not always in the shop, that's great. :)
@AlexFarranGuitar Жыл бұрын
oh man, sorry to hear that!.. funnily enough I've had literally the opposite experience.. all my vintage amps have been solid and without issue on countless sessions, tours and club gigs! It's the modern amps that I've had bad experiences with many times over the years! Those hand wired reissues do look nice though! ;)

@@AlexFarranGuitar good on ya brother! your tones are all killin. by the way your adam levy solo was a masterclass on what to do over those changes, how the guitar should sound and how it should be approached. my favorite one by a country mile. (semi-pun intended) not really a country tune but lived the tele vocabulary u applied to it in certain places with the r&b language etc. just killin.
