You could always do what I do: start *living in it* in your spare time!

Thanks you for the video. I am not a polyglot, but I will at some point of my life. I started a couple of times to learn or use a second language and abandoned it every time. I was static and not yet ready. Once I understood, that it's up to me to take responsibility, I started, like Carol Dweck suggested, to change my mindset from static to growth. This takes time. The reason is simple. We all use automatic programs in our life. Subconcious reactions and behavior, that we don't realise, if we don't look specific for them. I had and have to change them too. They have to fit in my value based core believes. Updating these habits is still an issue for me, but the power of yet gives me the confidence to progress. I'm curios, if all polyglots have a growth mindset. I think it is at least a solid ground to start the journey of learning. Not necessary a language, but any new skill that improve your personality. What do you think about this?

Thanks for your comment. Best of luck and success for becoming a polyglot! I am sure you can do it. I am not sure if I understood your question. Is it if polyglots have a growth mindset, or what exactly would you like to get my take on?
@rababaer7632 жыл бұрын
@@sprachheld There is nothing specific that I want to know. I am just curious to hear a different perspective about my thoughts.

I think it is important to stress that these tips don't necessarily work for those learning their first language. Unless they are very self-aware, these people will need to do as they are told by their teacher as they simply lack the experience to be assertive about their learning process.
@sprachheld2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is true indeed. That's what all the other videos on this channel are for: to find the necessary tools and learn the necessary techniques to learn the first foreign language successfully.

Other polyglot teachers (?) agree beginners can better use 1 book cd or dvd, app, or on line course all hopefully are graded. They need to find above materials - enjoyable,interesting, useful, comprehensible (3 different meanings.(These contents proposed by Luca L., Steve Kaufmann, of course.)
@nandobreiter3142 жыл бұрын
I wonder about that all the time.

I hope not anymore after watching that video :D.

These tips are good, but most people clicking on this are already motivated and want more specific tips on how to learn a language. Most people think they need to take a class or get a teacher or a textbook or an app. You guys are experts and you know what works and what doesn't work. And most people do what doesn't work, so they eventually give up, not because they lack motivation or don't have a routine, but because they are using ineffective methods and they are unable to speak or understand the language. They think they aren't gifted at language learning. And if they just watched this video, they will still use poor methods and fail to learn the language. And the link on the techniques video has been removed.

Hey Ron, Luca and I have tons of videos about very specific tips and methods on how to learn a language on our respective channels. You can check them out if these tips are not specific enough :). Which techniques video? You mean the one on Luca's channel? It's still there, here it is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaq4ln-epdSKiqM

Polyglots don't doubt?

Dann mal weiterhin viel Erfolg!
