I first got into Mandarin through a song called Wo Ai Ni (我爱你), which ironically enough was Japanese. Japanese is easier to pronounce, but Mandarin has much easier grammar.

Yeah, I’ve been doing Mandarin for 2.5 years and Japanese for 6 months after visiting Japan. My aunt is Japanese, so I’m learning to connect with her. I agree with your analysis. Japanese is easier to pronounce, but their grammar is trickier. Both are cool languages! 中文很棒！日本語がすごいです! 😀

why use “唯一” and not "只一"。 just curious. Bdw, love your channel

When using 只 (zhǐ) to mean "only one," it is not correct to say simply 只一 (zhǐ yī), you would need to write something like “只有一个” (zhǐ yǒu yī gè). To say, "the only one" as in "The only person in the world" you should use “唯一" (wéi yī). I hope that helps!
