Wow, honestly this is the best lesson I came across on youtube so far. Keep it up please, you're doing an awesome job. THANKS Just a little question, why is ج pronounced as "g" in "garden" and not as "G" in Germany ?
@michaelgeorgearabic
@michaelgeorgearabic 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tyna, Thank you so much for your nice comments :) I'm glad that was able to help. For the pronunciation of ج here's the answer: Each Arabic country speaks two languages: 1. Modern Standard Arabic (الفصحي). 2. Colloquial Arabic (العامية). Each language has its own accents. So Modern standard Arabic has many accents. Also, Colloquial Arabic has many accents. Just like any other language in the world. I'm from Egypt so here's what I can speak: 1. Modern Standard Arabic with an Egyptian Accent. 2. Colloquial Arabic with an Egyptian accent too. In both of them, we pronounce ج like g as in "garden". In some other countries, they pronounce it like g as in "germany". I wrote this long answer because some people are confused. They think that this video is NOT modern standard Arabic but this is wrong! They don't put the accents in considerations. That was a very good question. Feel free to ask more. Good luck with learning Arabic :)

نعم الجملة صحيحة ما عدا حرف واحد Yes, the sentence is correct except one character في اللغة العربية الصوت مذكر In Arabic, voice is masculine لذلك يجب ان نستخدم جميل بدلا من جميلة that's why we should use جميل instead of جميلة the right sentence is : صوت الامرأة التي تخبرنا هذه القصة جميل جدا Also it's common to say المرأة instead of الامرأة but that's not a mistake.

@michaelgeorgearabic
@michaelgeorgearabic 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Arniel :) That's a very kind of you. It's a privilege for me that you listen to my video. To be honest, there's a big difference between the two accents. Difference in pronunciation (Eg: we pronounce the ج like g and they pronounce it like j). Also, there's a difference in the vocab ( we say: hadretak حضرتك and they say a'y اخي ). There's some differences in the grammar too. Anyway, if you speak Egyptian Arabic, they will totally understand you because Egyptian arabic is widely spread and 100% understandable by any arab person. But you should learn to understand their accent too. I'm very glad that you ask questions. Feel free to ask more. Thank you once again for your nice words. Good luck :)

As a native Arabic speaker, I don't know what the three-letter root is. There are much information, rules, grammar, and vocab in Arabic languages that even native speakers know nothing about (Especially, modern standard arabic). Thant's why foreigners think arabic is hard. Now, let me guess. The root is بدد but I'm not sure if it is correct. You're asking about something like "literature/poems or Shakespearean English". An american can speak english but he/she doesn't know everything about Shakespearean English. I really admire the way you study. You study very hard. You're so good in phonetics and you know more than me in Arabic lol :D :D I really support you and I'll be more than happy to help you with arabic so feel free to ask more questions :) You're amazing Anatoli. Thank you so much, Michael and nice meeting you! I am not great in Arabic but I've got some tools and access to dictionaries. I am an English Wiktionary contributor. Thanks for the answer about استبد. I have just created an entry for this verb and you're right about the root letters. Now that I found it in a dictionary, it's easier for me. Have a look at en.wiktionary.org/wiki/استبد#Arabic I used an example phrase from your story - ‏...وَٱسْتَبَدَّ بِهَا الرُعْب‎ ― ...wa-stabadda bihā r-ruʿb We use this transliteration at Wiktionary, it's semi-automatic but we need to provide the حركات for the automated transliteration to work.

@michaelgeorgearabic

khatam = khataman = khatamon = khatamen = khatama = khatame = khatamo Adding one or two sounds at the end of a word depends on Arabic Diacritics or Harakat. Is this Egyptian arabic? Or basic arabic Which All arab Countries are speaking?
@michaelgeorgearabic
@michaelgeorgearabic 5 жыл бұрын
Hi fahim, That's a very good question :) This is NOT Egyptian arabic. We don't speak like that in Egypt. Egyptian arabic is totally different. Arab countries may speak the basic arabic differently. The basic arabic is called "Modern Standard Arabic". It's called "Standard" because all arab countries understand it but they don't speak it the same way. This sounds logical because it's just a language. It's like any other languages that have accents. So I speak the basic arabic (modern standard arabic) with my Egyptian Accent which is totally different from the "Egyptian Arabic". Good luck with learning Arabic and feel free to ask more questions and I'll be more than happy to help you with arabic as needed

Hello Sir.. May I be explained on why there is no "ان" after جاءت and before تطلب. It seems to me like these 2 are Verbs?
@michaelgeorgearabic
@michaelgeorgearabic 5 жыл бұрын
That's a very good question. Thanks for asking it :) The answer is that every rule has exceptions and I'm going to give you the basics of those exceptions. The main rule is that we use ان between two verbs when they come in one sentence. Eg: انا اقدر ان افعل هذا انا استطيع ان اجري بسرعة نحن نعرف ان السماء زرقاء سمعت ان الرئيس اعلن عن قرار جديد اشعر ان الجو جميل Here the exceptions: First, If the preposition ل is omitted. This proposition means "For" or "To". Eg: ذهبت لأجمع المال = I went to collect mone In this case, you can omit the ل from the word لأجمع so it sound as if you have one sentence with two verbs without using ان ذهبت اجمع المال Second, We use some special sentence structures to give different meanings. انا اري ان تسير السيارة بسرعة In my opinion, the car should move fast. انا اري السيارة تسير بسرعة I can see a fast moving car. Third, we don't use ان if the second verb works as an adj. or an adv. Or when it describes the other verb. (This is the hardest case). اتوا يسرعون = they came fast I hope this helps :) Feel free to ask more questions :)

I have a question-is the arabic accent you are teaching,anyhow affected or influenced by the English language??I meant -is your arabic style totally free from English language's influence from every angle?Or is it pure form of modern Arabic language??

It's 100% Modern Standard Arabic with EGYPTIAN accent. That's because I'm a native arabic speaker and that's how we speak in egypt. Why do you feel like my arabic is affected or influenced by English? I barely speak English :D :D

@OM A Colloquial Arabic has accents (Gulf, Egyptian and Levantine ...etc). Modern Standard Arabic has accents (Gulf, Egyptian ...etc). Nothing is called normal or pure standard arabic. Colloquial Arabic with Egyptian accent = Egyptian Arabic Modern Standard Arabic with Egyptian Accent is **NOT** Egyptian Arabic. Like any other language, Modern Standard Arabic has accents. Saudi Arabia speak Modern Standard Arabic with Saudi accent that why they pronounce ج like j They also speak a second language called colloquial arabic with also Saudi accent. Egypt speak Modern Standard Arabic with Egyptian accent that why they pronounce ج like g They also speak a second language called colloquial arabic with also Egyptian accent. That's what we call "Egyptian Arabic".

I just wanted to point out that the radio station made a grammatical error in تثق فيهم. The pronoun should be هُنَّ, not هم because the object was صديقاتها (all "female" friends), not اصدقائها (all "male" friends, or a mixed gender group of friends). MSA makes a distinction between the two while colloquial Arabic does not.
@michaelgeorgearabic
@michaelgeorgearabic 6 жыл бұрын
You're right Lucy but MSA has a lot of old unused grammar. As a native speaker, I didn't notice it. Most of radio listeners will not notice it. Even the narrator, the director, and the team who prepared the story didn't notice it. هم is considered more general than هن. Please, don't take MSA so seriously ;) It contain tons of rarely used vocabulary.

I understand what you're saying, but I have to say I disagree with you. Although it is probably no one's first language (not even in the Arab world), it is still "used" today in writing and formal speech (e.g. news media, conferences, etc.). After all, you're a native speaker of Egyptian Arabic, not of MSA! :) Furthemore, it can serve as a lingua franca for speakers of a variety of colloquial Arabic that can help facilitate communication throughout the Arab world. For example, whether you're from a small village in Libya or Yemen, if you've learned MSA, you will be able to use it and understand each other when Libyan or Yemeni colloquial Arabic cannot fulfill this function otherwise.

@michaelgeorgearabic
@michaelgeorgearabic 6 жыл бұрын
@trenparsifal @Lucy I still think it's better to speak MSA like what native Arabic speakers do. Taking it so seriously may lead to memorizing old vocabulary that even native Arabic speakers do NOT understand :) Part of MSA is very old and it's like Shakespearean English. No one uses that kind of English these days. Thank you trenparsifal for clarifying my point.

I looked and obviously Egyptians speak with a certain dialect like other Arabic countries, which ia different from proper Arabic this video should be called how to speak Egyptian Arabic! As GH گ doesn’t exists in Arabic!

1. This is MODERN STANDARD ARABIC. 2. If you think that this is Egyptian Arabic, you are WRONG because I'm a NATIVE arabic speaker. 3. If YOU don't know the proper pronunciation of ج , don't correct the pronunciation of a NATIVE arabic speaker like me. You can ask politely and I'll answer. Actually, I've made a video about the two different pronunciation. 4. Nothing is called proper Arabic as you claim. 5. What do you mean by this symbol گ ? It seems that you're talking about another language lol :D :D Do you mean ك or كـ ? 6. You wrote an IMPOLITE comment because I spend a lot of time and effort to produce such a unique method to teach Arabic that no other teacher can do. 7. To be polite, you need to reform it as a question and remove the sentence "This is the worst video ever". 8. I don't care about your friends or what your sources are because you were given WRONG INFORMATION. Again, this is MODERN STANDARD ARABIC. 9. Writing more misleading or impolite comments would lead to banning you from my channel. 10. Watch this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIfFoKqBdpahnNU
