This is really terrific. I’m a twenty year educator (of adults) and I really appreciate your clarity, simplicity and the subtle encouragement inherent in this approach that continually implies “this isn’t hard, you can absolutely do this. I will help make it easy.” And indeed, you do. Thank you. 🙏🏼

Easily the clearest, most straightforward and music jargon free explanation I've seen of these concepts since I started learning a few months ago. Thank you, that has tempted me to go for one of your courses. Quality lesson for a beginner like me, great ! :-)

Your way of explaining chord inversions as just a move in note octaves is probably the easiest to grasp I've come across. Major thanks

I have taken college music theory, and within five minutes you taught me what I learned throughout weeks of that course…it all makes more sense to me described in this way. Kudos! Thank you!

Man, Oscar you are such a good teacher. I’ve had a few starts and stops in my life learning music (through a few instruments, never really mastering any one), but I’ve never truly “got it” in terms of basic music theory like this. Looking at the colour oremotion of the music as related to the theory is fundamental, but no one teaches it in the beginning this way. Doing so makes it so much more easily consumed. Thank you! I shall go “smush.”

This is the simplest and most straight forward explanation of fundamental music theory I have seen. Outstanding presentation of content. I also appreciate how the concepts have been pared down to their key elements in order to simplify the concepts and facilitate ready understanding on a base/core level. Any and all other details of music theory can be investigated and explored easily with a foundation built on the knowledge presented in this video. Very impressive overview for half an hour of video.

Ahh I'm happy to read this. I made this video when I had basically zero video editing skills still, so I think it could be made even more streamlined, but I love that it's connecting with people.

Learning Music theory was easily one of the most daunting things that was holding me back from actually making sense of the kind of music I wanted to create. Which notes where the right ones to use and having structure in a song etc. Literally learned this during my lunch break and can't thank you enough! 😀

Omg THANK YOU. I've been wanting to try music and fl studio for years. Finally gave in and got fl studio and have had some fun with it. Made a little lofi song which I'm actually pretty happy with. Watched a lot of tutorials about it. But omg this video is the simplest and clearist video on music theory I've watched and I feel like I've learnt so much just from this vid.

I learned to play by ear and have no musical tuition background at all... I completely have an understanding of notes and octaves, flat and sharp keys, but this has really helped me join up some dots... fabulous video and thankyou so much for this, it has helped a lot! Could have really done with this back in the early 90's making bedroom dance music, with my 2 mates and loads of ideas.

Having made electronic music for the last couple of years with absolutely no formal training and very little music theory knowledge, (I've managed to get a feel for keyboard playing through a lot of trial and error). I've always felt intimidated by watching music theory videos as it seems to be some kind of dark art that I was worried I'd not understand. So glad I watched this video, as it's helped to consolidate some of the self taught stuff and made me realise it's not so scary, and actually I'm over half the way there, now I can understand the basics. Thanks for making this video. Your teaching style is so accessible, kudos to you!
@mikethemusicman19782 жыл бұрын
its definitely not a dark art but a journey which can be very rewarding once you understand the basics, I spent many years at college and I'm still learning every day, it's an ongoing process
