I remember being very impressed by speed when I started playing lead guitar. I practised hours everyday; literally 6-8 hours a day. I got pretty speedy and could do a pretty good impression of guys like Gary Moore or Neil Schon. Then the neo-classical thing hit and everyone seemed impossibly amazing. I persevered with that for a while, but life kicked in and 6-8 hours a day just wasn’t going to happen. These days I’m more impressed by tone, feel and interesting note selections.

I totally agree, this kind of lick is about as flash as I get to be honest. I’ve capped my speed here, no faster. People asked me about this specific lick and short patterns I use so I thought I’d wrap it up as a speed builder. No interest in sweep picking or flash for the sake of it. This works as a finger and a scale exercise at the same time. It’s versatile.

I do think your videos should win the award for ...i dunno, consistantly funniest first 30 second intros....lolz. not kidding....i have no desire to work any speed drills outside of what I've been working up to and on pretty maticulously....not shopping speedwork for sure...and yey here I am, coffee pioured and ready. Oh, right....the rest of the video....continue...

Oh the irony of ever winning an award for comedy and production over educational guitar content. 😂😂😂 Yeah these videos are slices of things I think people will find fun and useful. You can’t please everyone. Maybe the next one will be more up your street? Enjoy your coffee. ☕️

@@SpedSpedding @Sped Spedding oh shit man...okay. so....how to explain. fuckit....i got no pride left, ass hanging out of a hospital own for a few days. please, allow me to explain. Me=or, my brain is on, or trying to clear a head full of anesthesia. I legit never spend this much time online, but, lock me in a hospital room with orders to stay put (they really take all that very seriously here, the whole getting up to stretch your legs is a great way to alert a lot of people...I've been working as a trauma/ER nurse for 15 years and these floor nurses still mystify me). anyway, I LOVES me some metal licks n riffage....please disregard whatever I said to the contrary. In fact there is/are very few genres of music that I don't enjoy....maybe don't listen daily to all, but find gems in most? I have the feeling this is already just getting worse the more i explain. your content, the music, the funny, its all good. its my head and my ability to communicate thats all effed up. I just want my own bed and more importanly, my guitar, hell any guitar....i would literally sell a kidney for a guitar right now (this would be a place to get that done? maybe I should ask around the transplant department.....sneak past the med surg nursing batallion......). yep. all getting worse the more i speak. stupid braindrugs. gonna sign off before i offend more youtubers whos music i genuinely enjoy, lolz....god, so sorrybye

Another excellent lesson. It's about time I learned how to Shred With Sped! Helpful reference back to the pentatonic scale lesson as well.

Haha thanks Kit! Yeah I thought I’d chuck that in there as well to encourage having the foundations in place. The pattern can be used however you want, it’s versatile. Sounds good slower too. 🙌🏻 🇦🇺

Good timing posting this, just recently learned how to play the highway star solo and the fast part is a killer lick but it’s very difficult to get both hands synchronized, I’ll give this a try!!!🤘

Woah there !!!!! This is a finger and picking tangle! Sounds freakin awesome to hear you play it. I have the first two pos. down at a slow tempo, not up to speed yet Sped. This ,I think is one of the coolest displays at a run from you ever brother. I WILL get this down, and have you to thank for a muscle and dexterity workout. Yikes this is tough at first!
@SpedSpedding3 жыл бұрын
This is exactly what I’m talking about! Picking, Muscle and dexterity all rolled into one. It’ll tire you out as you practice but when you need it here and there it’ll be a breeze. 🙌🏻

@@SpedSpedding that’s nonsense. There’s so many places. Maybe try one where it bounces off the screen and you pick it up again and throw it. Maybe try some trick shots. The possibilities are endless.

Those skinny string high notes are for Boomers. Chugging like a caveman on the low string in drop kick tuning using a ready made uber brootalz preset is where it is at. It is even better if you have somebody to growl and yell along to it like a speed freak in psychosis while cupping their mic.
