i just want to let you know that ur "how i learned norweigan" video is super, duper helpful! i'm a fluent german and english speaker, among other languages, and i've been learning danish using your tips. i feel like in a month i've made much more progress than my first six months of learning french at school! i'm reading harry potter on my kindle, and although i only understand circa 10-40% (depending on how well i remember the english version or how similar the danish words are to german), i'm trying to push through and read the whole book. the kindle is really helpful because i can translate specific words/sentences too :) reading adult novels in english, even if i didn't understand them at a young age, is how i've been consistently scoring in the 99th percentile of americans during all english tests i have taken in my life!

Thank you! This format is extremely helpful. Usually, I simply accept not understanding every utterance in films. Disecting and analysing it in this way is super helpful as it draws my attention to gaps and misconceptions I usually brush over subconsciously.

So, I viewed your video on how you taught yourself a language and I discovered almost all the same things you did and the importance of writing down the language. The one thing that I believe is just as important, is that everything should be written down as neatly and organized as is possible to achieve. This may require a person with messy handwriting ability, to make a priority with how they write the shapes of each individual letter, to ensure it matches the style and appearance that the target culture uses. I honestly believe, that all education should start with language. I think that the educators should first achieve familiarity with the language, without too many rules. Periods, commas, and capitalization should be the maximum, until the students are reading proficiently and won't be distracted by seemingly crazy rules of, "...this before this, except after this...." While you are reading books, please invest in reading New Testament, at least once. Take care and be blessed always.

as a Norwegian I think the explanation of "jo" was a bit too simple and glossed over a lot of nuance , but the explanation wasn't wrong either and most of the time when learning a language an approximate understanding is better than trying to memorize all the different variations and subtleties anyway
