Great work! How do you get the live view recorded for the final video?
@PhotographyTVcom7 жыл бұрын
I use an Atomos Ninja 2 for that. I actually show the Ninja in this gear review in case you want to see how it can be setup. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqrcYah5j8xnY6c I just plug the HDMI out coming out of the camera and the HDMI in going into the Atamos, and the atomos can record the live view, menu options, etc. from the Sony camera. I'm not sure if it makes a big difference, but for live view recording like this, I think it helps that Sony has the EVF.

But you omitted to mention that as you reduce the aperture the camera will continue to reduce the shutter speed until the shutter speed is so low that you get blurry images. So,you need to set, in the menu, the lowest shutter speed you are willing to have, maybe 1/60 for hand-held photography. So now the camera will increase the ISO, if you have set ISO to AUTO, instead of reducing shutter speed further. That way you can avoid the camera setting very low shutter speeds that can lead to blurry images. Hope this helps some beginners in photography.

Thanks for this great information. A photographer friend once told me that having 'the eye' was 97% of the skill, and all the other skills only account for 3%, and that all the fancy equipment can't help unless you have 'the eye'. I think that was pretty harsh, but probably right. Now it is hard to find a real original 'as shot' and unedited photograph anywhere.

I've heard this before too, I found the equipment can make a big difference in adjustability. Like a chef with a knife or with a really sharp knife. There's a difference. Went from a D300 to D700, either are great cameras but a little older. The cheaper gear can be good but if you shoot anything moving not so good. Auto focus speed and lens system is what you pay for.

You nailed it when you said it’s a fun way to shoot. I remember thinking shooting in manual made me a better photographer, and it did. But it made shooting tedious. I lost track of light, subject, and composition. Aperture lets me retain control over the elements I care about controlling. But it’s so easy I can focus on the fun part, the beautiful subjects. 👍🏾

i'm still trying to understand this i need somebody to show once and i got it. i understand where you're coming from and i got the idea but for some reason my canon 80d with my 16-35 2.8 isn't letting me get it together. let me ask you this which is the best auto focus point to use for taking great pictures

Aperture priority works only for photos and not for videos. For aperture priority to work make sure you put ISO on auto mode with maximum ISO limit and minimum shutter speed in the settings, else you would get a lot of dark and blurred pictures because of camera shake. In videos, shutter priority can work if you don't care about the bokeh.

Great tips. Inside however when I do this, my ISO goes through the roof e.g., 25,600. Why is this and how do I get it lower. I don't want noisy images. Also, what is the green dot (bottom left in view finder mean- that it is actively focusing?)

Thank you for your tutorial on Aperture Priority. For years I have only shot in Auto Mode. A new day is dawning for me thanks to you. I recently bought a Rokinon 8 mm fisheye (manual) lens. Frankly, I'm lost. Do you have a tutorial that would provide me with the basics of shooting with a manual Fisheye lens?

Nice job, how do you overlay the images of the aperture ring(s), eg, 3 mins and 40 secs at the bottom left of the screen you have the f/1.4 aperture ring displayed? Thanks.

I do nature and wildlife ( birding ) photography. If I want to to shoot in apperture priority should I set the ISO in Auto or set the min, and max. limit for ISO. I am using MFT - Lumix G 85 camera with 100 - 400 lens. Please advise.

At F/22, why wouldn't the camera just decrease the shutter speed instead of bumping the ISO up to 3200? Would that not produce a less noisy photo, especially with the camera on a tripod? Aperture priority seems to work out fine when you're spoiled for light with a wide aperture but once the camera decides it needs more light, it may choose to crank up the ISO rather than reduce speed of the shutter. Now, I see why that would make sense to an extent when taking photos handheld, since you don't want camera shake to become a factor but on a tripod, it seems like bumping the ISO is the wrong answer

I have canon rebel t6. When I shoot on Av mode, I don't see the shutter speed settings. They literally disappear. And no matter how big or small I make the aperture, the image takes forever to take and comes out very white. I'm confused cuz I thought when you shoot in Av it automatically adjusts the iso and shutter speed to correct the exposure?
@stevenjostyphotography38796 жыл бұрын
On Nikon you have to go into menu to set the ISO at auto. So would assume you have to do the same with canon ! Then in aperture mode the camera will set shutter speed and ISO. Not setting the ISO to auto will mean the camera thinks that you are going to manually change the ISO.

What I find annoying is that inadvertently, I have created a photo out of context by having a high-aperture opening. I wanted the whole scene, but end up with a blurred background.
@davidodonovan49822 жыл бұрын
That's what's known as a shallow depth of field, a sharp subject in focus and a blurry background in order to get a sharp foreground and background for let's say landscape photography chose f11 to f16 and that should do the trick.
