Several weeks ago I commented that I was a few days away from turning 73 and I was learning Python. I was overwhelmed at the likes and replies given my post. Thank you all so much. Some even replied with a 'birthday wishes' Python program. I have tried many times to like all the replies, but as I continue to click 'Review replies', KZbin eventually reloads. I apologize that I cannot like every reply. A few asked why I was learning Python at my age. I'm still working full time, and I believe new skills are always good. Others asked how my learning was goin. I watch some of the video, then practice to determine how much I have learned then watch more and practice. My goal is Python certification. Not quite. The course is ok - but it is a summary, table of contents and should be called "Introduction to Python for beginners". Learning few functions doesn't make you a programmer. For example OOP is mentioned here only in one, not well designed example (as for beginners). If you don't cover a multiplication table you can't go further. If you don't know well Past Simple tense you can't learn reported speech... and so on. So as an "Introduction" I can give 4,5 stars, but as a full course - 0 stars.

Wow this was 5 years ago, that year is one of the hardest time in my life. If I started learning to code from the past 5 years i would be a better programmer now and learn different languages. Small addiition to the basic calculator chapter: Use the exercise to practice using functions (def) and passing parameters. That can also include your first exception handling by checking if the divide operation would try to divide by zero and give an error message in that case :)

Hi Mike. I took up Python around a month ago and this video helped me a lot (finished it today). I also watched several other videos and in one of them some guy said that manual string formatting (using strings with plus signs) is a terrible habit and that instead we should use f strings. So instead of using: print("Hello " + name + ", you are " + age + "years old.") we should go for: print(f"Hello {name}, you are {age} years old.") Another thing which is heavily discouraged is using range length idiom. Instead of this: for i in range(len(variables)): print(variables[i]) we should use this: for i in variables: print(i) ...and if we need index for some reason, we should use enumerate. Apparently using that idiom has something to do with coming from other languages. Thank you for your guidance so far, I will keep watching your videos :)

Watched this video a couple years ago in high school, now I am a computer science student in my freshman year of college and in my programming fundamentals class my professor said our homework would be hard and take us 4-8 hours to complete. Obviously we are using python for this and I must say watching this video ahead of time has put me miles ahead of my classmates and I can easily finish my homework within an hour and watching a 4 hour video has taught me more than my college has taught me in a 4 month semester.
