I AM ALWAYS AMAZED THAT MOST FARMERS/RANCHERS CLOSE THEIR MINDS TO PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND GREG JUDY. IF THEY LISTENED THERE WOULD BE NO POLLUTION AND COMPACTION OF OUR MOST PRECIOUS RESOURCE, OUR SOIL.

Farmers are raised in an environment of “this is how we do it “. Some move on some don’t.

This is the type of farming every farmer in the world needs to go to. It is sustainable and long lasting, it improves our lands, and most importantly, it gives us a super healthy food source. Josh, I say this from the bottom of my heart, keep being the leader we need you to be, and other men will follow.

I have a lot more to say but I hate typing out messages. I will work on that. But bottom line i'm a true believer of building soil. You take care of your soil it will take care of you. Or over water tanks? So they don't have to go to woods for shade? My old dogs head was black, and oh man her head cooked in summer.

@StoneyRidgeFarmer Жыл бұрын
one donkey, stays with the cow herd....2 or more donkeys will go off with each other, they will often fight, bite and kick each other at times. One donkey is part of the herd, 2 create their own herd

It has always been my understanding that the main tap root of a plant grows as deep as the plant is tall. The tap root seeks moisture as I understand it. The nutrient roots don't go really deep. They are the real fine roots. A lot of people believe the mass of the plant comes from the ground. It doesn't the mass of the plant is carbon and the plants take the carbon from the air. Personally I believe humans produce more methane than caws do.

Great videos. Have you ever thought of aerating. The pastures? Not sure if it’s feasible.
@StoneyRidgeFarmer Жыл бұрын
don't need to, the cows hooves are doing it for us....a rainy day produces tens of thousands of hoof prints that retain water and stimulate root growth. An aerator is simply a mechanical hoof

Great video as always Josh….always educational! One question, though… I know you do rotational grazing on your pastures, but how often do you drag them to break up any manure that accumulates? I’ve got horses over east of you in Greenville, but like you, I’m always trying to improve my soil naturally which has a high clay content. Some of it doesn’t grow grass very well. Thanks!

Josh, just out of curiosity, is there any type of grass, or plant, that you have to watch out for? I watch another channel on KZbin with a bison rancher, and he had a young bison die from consuming a type of weed. I can't remember what the name of it was, right off the top of my head. His ranch is in Oklahoma, if this is any help. If I were a cow, I'd want to be on your farm! 100%!
@karlrovey Жыл бұрын
Mustard plants can be toxic to most livestock if consumed in large quantities. They're considered weeds in certain parts of Oklahoma (though I wonder if they could be farmed profitably here given how easily they grow).
