Because the bass is tuned in fourths, I found it easier to go counter clockwise when learning the Circle. By adding the flats first the ear becomes trained to hearing the fourth degree which corresponds a little easier with the geography of the fingerboard and in the case of the electric bass, the fretboard.

That’s a great idea. I would say figure out which way is easier for you to learn then practice it both ways, because you will probably see it both ways

Just curious not trying to be a wise guy but when did cycle of fifths, become circle of fifths

At least to my knowledge have become somewhat interchangeable. Often times, when talking about cycling through keys in 5ths, it is presented as a visual circle, so hence the name. Not sure when that started
