Some of these lessons teach me as much about English as they they do about Spanish. Who would have thought that a simple word like "Get" could have so many shades of meaning each with their own word in Spanish.

Gracias por hacer este vídeo tan importante sobre GET (conseguir, recibir, comprar, llegar y verbos reflexivos.)👍Es lo que necesitaba. Estos cinco contextos distintos en los que usamos esta palabra en inglés has explicado muy claramente. 😜 Unos ejemplos para practicar: 1. CONSEGUIR = to obtain, to get. Acabo de conseguir un plazo en el EOI Granada.🎯 2. RECIBIR = to be given, to get. ProSpanish debería recibir un premio por tu gran trabajo.😀 Me ha costado un montón durante mi aprendizaje de español traducir GET.🙏 3. COMPRAR = to buy, to get ¿Ya has comprado el excelente curso de ProSpanish? 4. LLEGAR + A = to arrive, to get to Acabo de llegar a casa completamente agobiada. 5. Verbs reflexivos: casarse, aburrirse, enfadarse etc. = to become, to get. Ayer me enfadé con Miguel.

Another great video that features "Acabo de". I came back to this old one because there is a new one out on how to say "just" in spanish. Like get, the word "just" has several different meanings and several different Spanish words that can translate into a single English word. It is starting to come together for me and Acabo de. Acbo de entender ahora (not sure if this is correct soanish) Great classic ProSpanish video!

I've also seen obtener. Seen it at an optometrist, looked it up, and the translation said "GET". Can a spanish speaker confirm this?
@callmeac5 жыл бұрын
TheLegendOfKoop obtener is like obtain. Which is perfectly fine. There are definitely more vocabularies to say GET, depending on the situation, some are more accurate than others. It can also be for example “recoger”, such as picking someone up. “I am going to get him from the station” Or “traer” for “I am going to get(bring) the cake for the party”

Me encanta tu canal!!! Estás haciendo un gran trabajo y me encanta la manera fácil en la que explicas tus clases. Soy nativa del idioma español y también lo enseño. El verbo "Get" es un poco complicado ya que tiene muchos significados en español dependiendo del uso que le des. ¿Y tú dónde aprendiste a hablar también esta lengua? ¡¡¡Saludos!!!

Good lesson but in English it would be, "I've just GOTTEN a job", never, "I've just GOT a job". I'm assuming the translation would be the same, "conseguir"...
@LearnSpanishLearnSpanish5 жыл бұрын
That may be so in USA. In UK we would never say gotten a job. But interesting to point out the differences.
