LEARN SPANISH: IR or VENIR

In this lesson you’ll learn Spanish verbs IR and VENIR, the key difference between both. Many students struggle using these Spanish verbs and they are not sure which one to use and when - IR or VENIR - and that’s why I’ve decided to jump into this topic and give you key points to help you understand once and for all how to use IR and VENIR in Spanish. I have been watching your videos over the last few days since discovering your channel and have added some of them to my play lists. I was wondering where you spent most of your childhood. Did you grow up in Spain or Latin America? If in Latin America what country? Your pronunciation is very good and I assume you are a native speaker. Your video work is very good and goes into greater detail than most other videos I have watched. I live in California and am a native English speaker (California Dialect) with a hint of midwestern American accent I get from my parents who moved our family here when I was two years old.

¡Hola! Muy bien. ¿Y tú cómo has estado? It’s a topic I have to cover in more detail in a video, but, we use the imperfect progressive basically for talking about what someone was doing when something occurred. Estaba hablando por teléfono cuando alguien tocó la puerta. (I was talking on the phone, when someone knocked on the door) The preterite progressive is used to talk about something that was going on at some point in the past. Estuvimos estudiando todo el fin de semana (we were studying all weekend). 😊😊

Voy yo or yo voy = same?

It’s not the same, there’s a slight difference. If you say “yo voy” is because you’re going somewhere. We use “voy yo” when we’re referring that it’s our turn to do something.
