I know this question is going to come up for beginners. SQL is way better than Access as it is used to handle larger datasets. Now, will learning Access prior to SQL help you, sure but it won't make learning SQL any faster. However, if you learn SQL first, your access learning will be much faster and easier. So which should you start with? Go with SQL if you are looking for career growth and you wanna play with the big boys. For small companies with smaller data sets, Access should be fine. Hope this helps anyone looking for it. And as always Great videos from Kenji.

Pivot Tables are useful for small data sets. Usually you'd use SQL when your data has 20+ columns and over 20K rows.

Pivot tables are great for smaller datasets but for relational, larger datasets, they aren't able to do the work sql can. SQL is a powerhouse for larger scale databases.

My work would like me to start using SQL, but every time I'm looking at this, it always feels like I can do the SAME exact stuff in Excel with just using Excel formulas. SQL is faster with more data, I suppose, but are there any other advantages to it?

Hi there! I love your videos and have been using them for a while but I can't go very far with this one because I think the database table is broken somehow now. I've tried importing other sample .csv tables to my Richlist table (as a test) and they've worked but this one keeps flagging the error "Unhandled exception: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xef in position 0: ordinal not in range(128) Check the log for more details." I've checked online for solutions and to no avail, please help. Thank you!
