Of all the videos I've watched on fairisle knitting,your the only one who showed how to catch a float~! I didn't even know that was a thing so THANK YOU~!! You're also the only one who explained how important it is to have the yarn on the correct side of the needle when knitting magic loop(once you turn the needles before starting a new row!).... Little things like that make ALL the difference in the world for someone just learning to knit. I'm so glad you're back making videos~!!🧶🥢💛

I'm just finishing up my first hat, knitting nemesis #1! #2 is colorwork and I'd love to combine the two. I love this pattern and it definitely looks doable for a knitting knoobie. Thank you for this video and your pattern!

Excellent video Charlotte! Your floats look awesome. So neat! I am currently working on a Fair Isle hat for one of my granddaughters. I use both hands. I knit Continental but since I learned English originally I use both hands to hold the yarn. It sure comes in handy and keeps my English technique fresh if I need it. Thanks for sharing all of your tips! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Thank you SO much for the clear & simple instructions. I am working on my first fair isle pattern. Needed to know how many stitches to float. You answered. Also I have terrible tangling. You addressed that too. It was getting very frustrating. And how to fix tight stitches. Hopefully, I can salvage the hat to giveaway. If not, I have definitely learned how to do it better next time. Thank you. I did subscribe.

Thank you....this was so helpful. I haven't yet tried fair isle but I'm slowly getting up my nerve. What I also need to know is how to keep 2 balls from getting tangled & constantly switching them around....that would make me nuts! Thanx for sharing :D

Totally love fair isle style, trying to wrap my head around it being a beginner. Your video makes it look so simplistic, however with a longer float, longer than 5 stitches, do you still twist the yarn or do you break it off and re tie it ?
@Yuffie135 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this tutorial :) Another person's tutorial I watched was continental, so it was nice to find one for people who knit English. (One thing that puzzles me... what do you do with the ends? I know my machine-knit, store-bought fair isle sweater has knotted ends, but I've heard some people leave them loose if they're using really grippy wool.)

Hey! I love how you did this tutorial for English-style knitters :) I was wondering if I can still use this method when doing magic loop in the round. I want to make a stranded hat, but I only have 32" needles.

How do I float my white yarn up several rows to start again?
@maryfron38133 жыл бұрын
If a pattern has one salvage stitch, is it just knitted once a row? If the salvage is on the purl side, I’m confused. Thanks.

thumbs up! my question though is, if the stitch is too loose, how do you tighten it up? I have a project where my floats are too loose, and its making my stitches slouchy.

You could give it a tug from behind your work... So pulling the stitch to the back... ❤

What equipment are you using to shoot video?
@Pluviophile2186 жыл бұрын
If you are a Continental knitter, you can use that method along with flicking and carry one color on the left hand and one on the right. This works really fast. Also, using 2 circulars makes it more efficient. Enjoy.
