I can seem to get a smooth edge at the beginning of the modified pick up after the short rows. I'm following everything you do. Is there another way?

I have never understood why "teachers" in videos use the same color yarn as the background. I have crocheted all my life so I can see what what you are doing. I'm sure some may have a problem seeing gray on gray.

Sorry I am blind and trying to understand this tutorial. I get the concept of a granny Square but what do you do in the final corner? Do you do three double crochets then a half double crochet in the first double crochet then then turn your work??

Very instructive but still a little fast paced for me. I had to pause it several times to keep the video from getting too far ahead of me. By the time she was finishing DC #3, I was finishing up my DC #1. Still, I was able to conprehend everything! Thanks!

This is the first tutorial where I made something resembling a square. I am going to get a firmer yarn to start with. Thank you! You have a way of explaining things that is slow, simple, and the way you filmed it is perfect for the perspective.

I don't understand why your first round has 3 clusters of 3 double crochet + 1 cluster of 3 double crochet and a fake double crochet stitch made from 2 chains - it makes one of your clusters bigger than the others. P.S. Most people use 3 chain stitches to make a 'fake' double crochet stitch.

This was informative, and I am doing this for the first time, but I attempted with black yarn....I don't recommend....it's very difficult to see what you're doing. Getting lighter yarn tomorrow and will try again

Im 50 and randomly got interested in crochet and knitting. I struggled for years and have all the yarn just waiting to become something. I sorta gave up and just bought a knitting machine. The knitting machine is great but the desire to learn how to crochet never left. After years of trying I thought maybe if I can just learn a granny square. I watched this video over and over, I lost count. After starting and pulling everything apart time after time I finally got it! I’m so proud I wish I could attach a photo to this comment. I looked for the FB page but it wasn’t there then I noticed this video is from 2017. Anyway this is the start of something great for me 😊 and you’re a great teacher! Thank you!!

Hi I’m 51 and I suddenly had the same desire. And I was so pleased with myself. Good job! I don’t think this is easy for everyone. It took lots of tries for me but felt like an accomplishment. :)

In theory I can make a granny square now. Practice will be a whole different animal. But you describe things so well I can almost feel the texture of the yarn and the weight of the hook. Thank you for the time and effort you put in!

Wonderful pattern and great instructions! I was finding the when ending and joining the last leg of the single crochet and chains I was having a larger gap when chaining three then finishing off so I started only chaining two then slip stich and it left me with a more even gap. It could be the yarn I was using.
