My way was to analyze my daily speech in my mother tongue and search for the equivalent words and idioms in English that really helped me to improve my level, my fluency and my confidence.

As long as the meaning is equivalent! Using things exactly as you would in your language could also get you into trouble culturally 😬 For example, the direct translation for the titles given to waiters and waitresses in Mandarin would be inappropriate and not appreciated here in America. So, the step I would add for translating from your language is finding proof that English speakers actually say that in English. Look for it in movies and TV shows and listen for it in podcasts. ✅

basically for being master on a language, we really need to use it with people. so we need to spend our moments of life with some native people of that language. it could be a coworker. a friend, or a partner. same concept same rule.

I also thought learning English synonyms would help Chinese people learn words faster, but this doesn't work because synonyms just leads to questions of "what's the difference ..."

Hey! One way that will help you learn is to mimic what you hear of KZbin! Take notes, review often, and talk about what you are doing out loud in English. If you want more practice, most English teaching KZbin channels have a program or course you can purchase listed in their descriptions ✅

He’s showing that he’s listening to her. You might try that experimentally with your own partner or prospective partner. Try listening, or at least try showing that you’re listening. You might end up giving that partner an impression that she or he is important to you, and that what she or he says matters to you.
