I really enjoy your videos, thank you for putting them together. There is so much to think about when you are in the saddle, it is helpful to watch someone else ride the test and to hear their commentary about what they are aiming for with each movement.

Thank you for these brilliant videos. Can I ask about what you are feeling / doing when Dante comes deep and a little behind the vertical (e.g. first circle in trot). My horse does this (he is still finding his balance and not as well developed and powerful behind as Dante) and I am worried now that I have made too much of deal about it - because judges kept on mentioning it - and my horse now seems worried and less consistent in the contact, with periods of opening his mouth champing / pulling his tongue back or trying to grab the bit with his molars when things get tense. I don't want to use a flash to hide it because it's a pretty clear sign something's not right. I went to a bit fit assessment and was told my horse is just mobile in his mouth and no bit fit issues but this is a new thing so I am not happy just ignoring it. Ted did used to go much longer and lower and was quite a lot heavier on the forehand. This has improved and I feel like I have more engagement now and his trot is easier to sit to and his lateral work definately more punchy less floppy but having seen your video this morning with Dante so settled I wonder at what cost? I notice in the video that you seem to allow and let your arms move forwards with him when his balance wavers even if it means he goes deep or comes behind the vertical occasionally - as a result your connection through the bit stays soft and elastic. In comparison to the tension creeping in to our work (Ted and I) I am thinking now I've messed things up. I understand that contact issues are almost always connected to a lack of carrying capacity in the hocks. Any tips for how I can improve my horses ability to maintain a more consistent outline and try and get rid of this tension that has crept in - pretty sure due to me being fixated on his outline. We are schooling elementary and competing Novice but I think I have tried to move too fast :-(

I’m doing a prelim 2 in 2020, will it be the same or will it have changed since when this was posted? Xx
@equievolvecoaching57774 жыл бұрын
This is Prelim 2 the 2016 version. It is always worth checking the version you have is the one the centre are using. This will usually be the most current one and this can in turn be checked on the BD website where you can also buy any new, updated versions as applicable.
