Once again you are my hero. I am doing my dog in steps as I watch your videos. I originally started to home groom my fur babies because my dogs were trying to run out the door at my local groomers for some reason. I was told in grooming school not to use a 30 blade on pads. Instead she said to use a "peanut" clipper because it's safer and more precise. What's your thoughts on that? Also, I LOVE your videos!! You share a TON of advice which I'm incredibly grateful for. Thank you!!!

Yes, I tell beginners to use a 10 blade. Often they don’t have a mini or adjustable blade clipper. I prefer to use an adjustable blade clipper set to 30 for pads. 🙌

I’d say if your not used to shaving start with a 5 your less likely to give razor burn if you get too close. At least for the sanitary area.

I need to do a sanitary trim on my puppy until we can get back to the groomer. If I already have human clippers, can I just buy the #10 blade for the dog and attach it to the ones I have? I don’t want to spend a fortune on dog clippers because I probably won’t continue to groom her once I can take her back to the groomer. She’s a yorkie...not sure if that makes a difference in blades or not.

Hello:) yes, blade size does matter very much. The sanitary area can only be trimmed with a #10 blade. Your human clipper is not a detachable blade clipper and will not work with dog clipper blades. If your clipper adjusts to a blade size equivalent to a #10 then you can use it but be ware of a close clip, it will hurt your little Yorkie and possibly make her bleed:( Make sure you know the blade size your clipper adjusts to. Hope this helps:)

On my grooming exam after we finished the grooming the examiners asked me "So what did you do as sanitary trimming?" and I was like "I trimmed the underbelly and the butt" (of course using the right words 😂) and then they were like "Yeah, what else?" and I was totally clueless and looked at my teacher like HELP and said I don't know? But then the examiners kinda helped me like what did you do on the legs and head? And I was lile oh yeah, trimmed inbetween the paw, got the fur from the ear out. I didn't know it went as a sanitary trimming because we never really called these that, only the underbelly+butt part

I LOVE your videos and have learned a lot from them! I have been on the hunt for grooming videos that show how to groom a cavalier King Charles spaniel (show groom). My cavalier has fuzzy tufts all down her back and wacky direction hair no matter how much I use a slicker brush. I know I must be doing something wrong. I also would love tips on how to do a sanitary trim on her with that long bottom fur! Any tips for seniors with dry skin? I have an elderly yorkipoo with loose, very dry skin. He is raw fed and healthy but won’t let me brush him so I trim him into a teddy bear/puppy cut with Andi’s AGC+ clippers

I did read a few reviews commenting on clippers having faulty cords but I decided to go ahead and purchase them anyway. Have you ever had any problems other then today with yours? kimberly thanks sweetie:) I can honestly tell you I have never replaced or repaired anything on my Wahl km 10 other than have to fix the cord. This is the second time I fixed it and that is to be expected:) I constantly step in my cord and it yanks the cord. Over the years of grooming, replacing and repairing clipper cords has always been a common occurrence on all the clippers I have used. You made a great decision in the Wahl km 10😊 I have the hanvey hair vac system and I love it. It is cheaper than the Romani clipper vac. Hope this helps💕

How do you get a dog to stand still if you're just doing an at home sanitary trim? Or any trim? The fur between her pads, eyes and bum grow so fast and gets dirty and she slips or her hair pokes her eyes. It's always like a wrestling match and we always need two to hold her. Same with just wiping her face. The vet said I should wipe around her eyes with a warm wet towel everyday to prevent tear stains but any time I come close to her face with anything she starts biting and chewing

The 10 blade has smaller teeth than say a 7 blade. The teeth are also much closer together than a 7 or 5 blade an therefore much safer in these delicate areas for trimming:)

WOW, I'd be starting at the clean end ie: the eyes then ears and finally clip around the genitals and lastly the anus, no way I would clip the anus and then proceed to take that germ covered clipper and put it right next to my dogs eyes, were the clippers sanitized after clipping the anus?

I thought you were never supposed to go up the penis area for fear of catching the skin and cutting the dog. I always saw to go across the penis area. Have I been told wrong!!!

You would not want to go against the lay of the hair, that could cause irritation. I trim the penis just as demonstrated and no issues. I do not apply any pressure to the skin as well.

I just wish all these mini dog groomers would STOP putting a collar around the the tiny dogs neck!! If you've never seen a dog with a sensitive trachea or an awful collapsing trachea its a heart breaker. Id of thought it would of been a 1st in your training. Please please get the word out theres so many groomers doing this. I know your careful everywhere else & dont want to hurt the pup. Please it goes around the tummy s harness and use a stabilizer If needed . I will NOT use a groomer . 1st time had I have not been there , she would of hung my dog. She walked away ABSOLUTE NO luckily I was there caught her and immediately took her and left. I've watched many yorkshire groomers only ONE knew how to fasten correctly .
