I agree completely with you. I was originally taught "который час сейчас"? Any of "Сколько времени сейчас"?, the commoner "Сколько сейчас времени"? or, perhaps the most prevalent, "Сколько времени"? work for me.

Your lessons are simply amazing! Funny is, I am Czech and I learn by lectures for English speaking audiences. it is slightly strange way, how to learn. Despite I am Slavic - language speaking guy, I state openly, Russian language is tricky even for me, what embarassing! I would like to bow down in front all non - Slavic language speaking folks, who decided to learn any Slavic language! For example such tricky stuff, like double meaning words, plural is completely different to singular and so on! Greetings from Czechia, stay safe, be healthy!

Katya was rubbing her thumb and index finger together to show that it means money or dengi In Russia. Here in the United States people do it also. I think this gesture is universal, anywhere in the world.

I think we do it a little differently here in US: we keep the fingers straightened and the thumb meets the tips of the fingers. I always thought when people curled the fingers around like that seemed lazy, but now I know its just different culture. Learn something every day.

That would be what we call a waxing crescent Moon in English, for the other meaning of «месяц», right after the new moon (which is not lit directly by the Sun at all, though Earthshine allows it to remain very dimly visible). It's a pity we don't have a more concise word for it in English as you have in Russian -- and if we do, I'd LOVE to know what it is. :)

I have always been puzzled how Russians do not distinguish between "hand" and "arm" - using рука for both. Similarly, they don't seem to make much of a distinction between "fingers" and "toes". :)

i think it would have been better if you did foot and feet right after you did hand and hands. if you could have maybe done 25 words but broke them up into 5 categories of words that were closely related i think it would be easier to memorize. So like Man, Men, Woman, Women, and Child. Hand, Hands, Foot, Feet, Face....

I had trouble with this also, but "katori" works like the English "which". Мужчина, кoторый читает книгу, зовут Иван. The man, which is reading the book, is called Ivan. This probably not perfect Russian usage, but maybe it will make sense to you.

In russian you could use a verb "умирать" in two ways: literally as "to die" or in meaning as "i really want/need it". But its tricky to use. You use it mostly when talk about eating and drinking.

In Croatian language (which is slavic, too) we also use it. For example: "Umirem od želje da te vidim" - "I am dying of desire to see you" / "If I do not see you I will die".

Why do you say that "man" is Человек and then in the sentence you say Человека?

***** человек is the nominative case and человека is the accusative case. It takes native English speakers a long time to get used to the idea of different endings on nouns and adjectives depending on their role in a sentence. Google "Russian noun case" for more information. Here's an example: "Dog bites man." is Собака кусает человека. "Man bites dog." is Человек кусает собаку.

The problem with trying to learn Russian phonetically is that it just sounds like mumbling most of the time. Maybe it's the presenter or maybe it's the nature of the language. I can't even begin to say most of the words because there is no detailed pro-nun-ci-ation.
