the author of the 625 words recommends you learn them in alphabetical order, since learning words in related groups causes the learner to get them mixed up

Underpants is trôns. Coat is côt - the 'o' is drawn out, stretched - tô bâch (little roof) above the letter.

So I’d never heard of Cot with a tô Bach before. I looked it up and there are two versions. Cot and Côt. One with the pronunciation I taught and the one you mentioned. Also there are a few words for pants in Welsh including pants and trôns. I assume the differences are regional? Thanks for telling me about them. 👍

@@markedwards9247 Think of the surname Jones and replace the 'j' with 'tr'. (always roll your Rs of course)

That’s interesting. I would say cot in an English language conversation for where a baby sleeps. In Welsh I would say crud.

Why is "siwt" not pronounced "Shwt"?

That’s a good question. In South Wales Si is normally pronounced shh but I’ve never heard anyone pronounce siwt with a shh sound, probably because it’s just the English pronunciation with a Welsh spelling. Also the Shh pronunciation for words beginning with Si is a South Wales way of pronouncing it. In North Wales Si is usually pronounced more like the name Sue.
