I’m Welsh, when my mother was little, they were not allowed to to speak welsh. Pubs were not allowed to to open on Sundays. So sad, I’m 74 and would have loved to have spoken my mother tongue. I know certain bits, but to speak the language should be a necessity 😢

Do you have a phonetic version for learning Men of Harlech on your channel?

Great video. I was looking for how this peculiar sound actually sounded like. Some people with a speech impediment talk like that in languages without that sound. When you speak English, it sounds like you have that speech impediment, because your Welsh affects the way you speak English, like for example how you pronounce the s.

6:08 Cont - it's a term of endearment - but only in an ironic sense- it really _is_ the Welsh word for cunt.

As a person living in Wales for a little over thirty years I have developed a strategy for ‘acquiring’ words to my vocabulary and that is to say them in a simple sentence like this, y gair yn Gymraeg am dog yw ci etc………, a little context goes a long way! Great site and resource by the way!

Hi Jason, can you either make these as shorts or videos so it's easier to find them all. Trust me I need to find and repeat them very often 😸 and maybe put them together as a playlist? Many thanks (would say it in Welsh but I can't spell it😁)
@LearnWelshPodcastАй бұрын
Hi. I tried to make all the videos shorts but KZbin has a mind of its own and has automatically broken them up into normal videos and shorts. I have created a days of the week playlist and will be adding each video there when I upload them to KZbin. Hope that helps. 😀

I don’t mean this to sound rude, but I can’t tell if you have a bit of a speech impediment or if that’s just Welsh. I’ve been learning Welsh and I’m very interested in Welsh mouth posture and how it differs from my Midwestern US way of forming sounds.

Hello, I currently live on Vancouver Island in Canada, but I am originally from that area, Ogmore by Sea, and my dad grew up in the Garw Valley. So... we also have half and half when ordering a chicken curry here. Either chips or rice or a combination of both. We also have the option of coleslaw, yes, coleslaw. It's a delicious combination but looks terrible. The hot curry and the cold coleslaw make for a very unique textural and sensory experience. Thanks for doing what you're doing.
