@@TriGZStudios a good 3d printer is a ender 3, it's a good budget printer, if you dony have much of a budget then I would say to get a prusa i3 mk3 or if you really have lots of money to spend then i would buy a lulzbot or ultimaker

This is so great. It’s funny I watched this while doing tech ed. We’re also doing the same thing you were just doing. We’ll be 3d printing a car, putting rockets at the end then blasting them for a race. We use the program called Autodesk inventor It’s awsome Anyway thx for the vid. I enjoyed it a lot.

I have 3d printer and it took me about an hour to understand how it works and all the settings, after that everything I printed so far was great quality and no fails or anything like that.

@Cheifareno I can confirm it being hard to master. I have an anet a8 and it took me a year of fiddling to get it to print nice. Since then i upgraded to a cr-10 and i haven't used my anet a8 sense

I’ve been using Onshape for probably the past year. I’ve designed so many things for my 3D printers. I recently used it to make a reference model for a table I was building for my truck camper. I used OnShapes built in BluePrint maker to get the exact angles I needed to cut out of the wood. It’s an absolutely brilliant and easy to use software

If something doesn’t need to be structural, lower the infill. Also, if you don’t need it to be super detailed, increase the layer hight. It will print faster and use less material. Just a tip.

I’ve used Computer Aided Designs for printing some name keychains and a scale car badge keychains, I have also made a 98% throttle blocker for my dad’s BMW E92 335is so that the car does not downshift when the car is at full throttle when on track and the rear end does not kick out unpredictably on exit of a corner. I am 13 now and was 11 at the time. Mike Boyd, your videos are really great

Congrats on your first design and 3D print! The design skills are the thing that most people need in order stay hooked on 3D printing. Do you have to give the printer back? If you do, are you going to get another one and continue designing and printing?

Mike Boyd if you get another, get a kit. I put together a prusa i3 mk2 (same brand as the one in this video) this year and that experience could be a whole different video in itself. It took me 14 hours to build, and a similar amount of time to calibrate. Calibrating was the most frustrating experience of my life but a great feeling when it finally worked. And if the time seems not "quick" enough, I'm sure others have been more successful in less time.
