Learn to graph an ellipse from an equation

Learn how to graph horizontal ellipse not centered at the origin. A horizontal ellipse is an ellipse which major axis is horizontal. To graph a horizontal ellipse, we first identify some of the properties of the ellipse including the major radius (a) and the minor radius (b) and the center. Yes it happens if the equation is not equal to 1. For example if it's all equal to 16, you have to divide through the equation by 16

well an ellipse is not a function but basically depending on the orientation of the ellipse (vertical, horizontal) your domain and range will be from [vertex,vertex] and [co-vertex,co-vertex]

the key point here is that when you plot the points (h,K) its RELATIVE to coordinates (0,0) and not the center of (3,1)

I think you used the wrong formula. A vertical ellipse formula is (x-h)^2/b^2 + (y-k)^2/a^2 according to my textbook and www.clausentech.com/lchs/dclausen/algebra2/ellipses.htm
