Ten favourite ways to play 10ths: 1. Play only the ones you can reach 2. Roll it 3. Play the top note first (roll downward) 4. Play the 9th and 10th together with the thumb (thanks for this tip) 5. Play only white keys (I can reach those) 6. Play only minor tenths 7. Help out with the right hand 8. Play a third and hope people don’t notice 9. Use minikeys keyboards 10. Change to playing the contrabass

Like the advice about rolling tenths, as well as the exercises! Here are some songs from my top ten list of little-known songs about "ten" that were not very successful: 5. Ten Coins In the Fountain (did not win Academy Award in 1954); 4. 10 to 5 (Dolly Parton's first draft) 3. Take Ten (Dave Brubeck's first draft) 2. Ten Little Words (Cut from the 1950 film Three Little Words) 1. Ten Times a Lady (Lionel Richie felt this was overstating it, and later subtracted 7)

Guitarists love tenths, they don't require stretching. When I play harmonized bass lines and shell chords I often work within a frame work of tenths or sixths in the outer voices, with a third interior voice that triangulates the harmony.

Hey Jeremy - thank you for sharing your amazing skill set with us; I always learn so much and get inspired just listening to you play. I looked up the lead sheet for "The Nearness of You", and of course -- as with most lead sheets I've seen so far -- there were only 1 or 2 chords given per measure, not 4 as you were playing (and advising us to practice with the alternating 3 tenths, or full measure of 4 tenths). I'm still a green novice to jazz, so not sure how to pick "fill" chords (?) as you did. Also, it seems that even though you and my lead sheet are both in key of F, your chords don't match it, even on strong beats 1 and 3. For ex., my lead sheet says M.1: F maj7 M.2: C m7, F7, M.3: Bb maj7 M.4: Bb dim7, for reference. I know there is much flexibility in harmony and chord choice, but I was trying to find a good source piece to practice pre-written tenths with 4 chords per measure. Not sure if that exists. Thank you for all the inspiration!

HI Jeremy. Another great lesson, as usual. Sorry to disturb you and use youtube for my request. I’m a huge Spanish fan (one among thousandas) and I’m trying to buy your books. When I go to your shop, from Spain, it redirects me to Amazon in my country. No problem with that, but the issues are. First, no discount, ok no problem. I don’t like rolling 10ths, because the root doesn’t sustain, and ends up feeling like an ineffective and pointless physical feat. Pedaling effects other notes
