@@charlierobles316 I can understand why he would thank God. lDepression opened up a new awareness and understanding of the world around me. It was a sign that I was on the wrong path and needed change, therefore I am thankful for it too. Personal and character growth is achieved through hard trials

"It all comes back to this idea of a sense of ego and self and pride and conceit of thinking 'I'm right and everyone else is wrong. No one understands me. No one is hearing me. No one can really empathize with me.' All you're really saying is you're not hearing yourself, you're not empathizing with yourself, you're not understanding yourself, and you're transferring that as a problem to other people." -- 7:55

My brother is being emotionally abusive to me and my mum again, I can't stop crying😢. I'm so sick of it! 😡 Wish I could leave and live some where else, been putting up with his emotional abuse for 43 years of my life, still living at home, living at my mum's house looking after her because she has Schziophrenia and can't walk 😢 Well, one day, as soon as I have enough money saved up I'm gonna leave, it's not gonna be easy when l'm not working and on the Carer Pension and Carer Allowance from Centrelink (Social Security), I haven't worked in years, and got no car or driver's license either, I had to quit my driving lessons and my hospital job to look after my mum, because my dad passed away and was longer around to look after her. I had to take his place. I hardly ever get to go outside anyway, and haven't been on holiday/vacation since the my dad passed in the 90s. Well, anyway, sorry about my rant, going back to studying French now as usual, and then do the usual housework etc and watch these videos to make myself feel good.😔

I enjoy the talks as well. This one is titled "Learn not to Blame Yourself" but there was more talk about blaming others. I cannot veil the fact that I do blame others. Although, I blame myself much more. I am very critical of myself. I wished he had spoke on this a bit more. I was a bit disappointed that Ajahn Brahm voiced his opinion of Trump leaving the white house. Regardless, of ones view we should do our best to send positive loving thoughts to them. The people we hold the most contempt for need our loving thoughts the most. Perhaps he was only making light of Trump...
@Emiliapocalypse6 жыл бұрын
Lori Swan argh. I catch myself blaming others too, but same as you, I blame myself much more. Good luck, I hope you’ve found a solution.
@terranhealer5 жыл бұрын
I think he was just joking about the politics. I don't think he holds contempt for anyone. Not blaming yourself or others doesn't mean people shouldn't be held accountable for their actions.
@SisypheanRoller3 ай бұрын
It's been five years since this comment so I hope you've found your middle path, but I just want to add something about blame. Too often the correction to the blame game takes it to the opposite extreme where everything and everyone must be lovey-dovey all the time. I don't think that's the right attitude. You don't send love to someone who is physically assaulting another person, so clearly there are boundaries here. I personally try to maintain an understanding attitude to other people's behaviour, but I don't excuse the consequences of what they do or say. The important difference here is "consequences," not "responsibility" as in "you did this how dare you." Focusing on consequences means you focus on doing better and nudging others to do better. Responsibility is just a toxic abstraction that attributes a badness to this ethereal "inner self" that must be bad because they did or said something that had bad outcomes for themselves or others. It's a thin line to tread, honestly, but I've found that this approach not only keeps me focused and at ease, it also helps me see the conditioning that gives rise to our habitual patterns of behaviour and thought, especially ones that are dysfunctional. I remind myself that I am not immune to that conditionining and neither is anyone else, but we are able to help each other grow whenever possible, and distance ourselves and let go when someone is impervious to our suggestions.

AB: I love listening to you but quit criticising trump. I like him a lot too. When you criticize him it makes you look shallow and trying too hard to be popular or go along with the crowd. Trump is good and many are sick of the bully cult mentality that you have to dislike him. Brahm you're better than that. Obama, Clinton were just as "bad", if not more so. If you're going to address Trump i would hope it would be a Buddhist method of encouraging people to not go along with the crowd, to prejudge, just because he's "republican".
@abehaile26596 жыл бұрын
sh we it’s great that you like Trump. I commend you for loving a man who publicly stated that a US born Latino judge was incapable of being impartial “because he’s a Mexican”. You’re a much better man than I for favoring a president who referred to Neo-Nazi groups as “good people”. He was recorded saying he grabs women in between their legs because he can, so you are clearly most wise for loving Trump. Thank you for teaching Ajahn Brahm and all of the free world the loving path to piety

thank you for standing up for someone so totally maligned by the Press. No one is perfect but no one else could go thru what President Trump has had to endure. The title of this talk, if I am correct is Don't Blame Others.
