I think this is a good beginner project. I'm a beginner but I have a practice sheet of watercolor paper that I apply the colors to and blend them before I put them on my drawing. This lets me adjust the colors -- too dark, add water and if it looks too light, mix in more pigment and see how it looks on my practice sheet. I'm using the Winsor and Newton but I can see that the kit would be the way to go for a beginner.

This tutorial was perfect, I was wanting to paint some koi, and you gave me some excellent tips! I do have a question on how you blend - it seems you use a rather wet brush? When I do this I get a distinct line where the water ended, you have a nice blend. What do I need to get your smooth blend? Thanks so much for this!

I don't have your kit (wish I did !!!) so I want to use PAYNE GREY. For the yellow, a mix of lemon and cadmium yellow, and for the orange I have cadmium orange. Probably won't be as nice so I'll probably have to order the kit.
