Enjoy your roses. I planted two David Austin roses and a rabbit really ate a lot of one of them. I put rabbit Scram in the soil around the roses and haven’t noticed anymore damage. I would suggest fencing or rabbit scram if rabbit’s are a problem in your area.

Great video! Some questions: What kind of fertilizer and other chemicals do you use to feed and keep pests/diseases at bay? Spray? Soil drench? When and how often? And how do you deal with Japanese beetles? I spent hours picking beetles off my roses last year. Thanks

Winona I am glad you liked the video. If you go to the superlawnstuff.com you can see all the products that I use on my garden. Earth Right, Sure Bloom Natural, Sure Bloom 6-7-6, and Mushroom Stuff. I apply it one to two times per month from April to August. I will have to do a video on how I use these products soon.

Thanks. We have a rose I planted last year. It looks pretty sad. I'm sure I didn't do everything right. It has 1 green cane on it. My wife asked if I think we can save it. I told her I will try to. I'm going to prune it and put Rose-tone around it,this weekend.

Also, how do own root roses do in KC?

I grow roses that are on their own roots and they are small the first year, by the second year they are getting bigger and by the 3rd year you can not tell the difference between own root and grafted roses. You do need to make sure you fertilize , water and protect them in the winter time just like other roses.
