This is SO SO SO helpful! Have just bought your book too. I have been attending bridge lessons for 2 hours a week but the teaching style doesn’t match my learning style… you explain it all so clearly and thoroughly. Really helpful. Thank you!

I completed the coursework on the Tricky Bridge app. I feel like I learned a lot and yet there were so many questions I had because there's some intricacies of card play I don't understand. I guess we're not there with the technology yet but it would be great if after the hand was played you could either have the app come back through and critique your playing or have the machine play the hand and point out why it differs where it did. I was often the dummy, however by default I have to play as the declarer and I just wasn't sure about card play in the middle of the game In this video you sort of answered one of them by explaining why you don't always just run your trumps. I'm really looking forward to continuing on with your lessons, I think having some of the play explained as it goes along is much more helpful. I'm still really confused about a lot of things, however I think continuing to search out and go over the basics is going to be very helpful. Thank you so much for going to the trouble to do all of these lessons

Many thanks for your comments, declarer play does take time and practice to build confidence and make improvements. Bridge Base Online can be a good place to practice if you find ‘Bridge Master’ section where you can play and replay hands, with an explanation of best play available. I hope you continue to find these lessons helpful.

What is the difference between playing acol and 5 card major? Thank you

Thank you Anita- an important question. Acol: opening bid of 1NT shows a balanced hand with 12 - 14 points. Standard: it shows 15 - 17 points. Acol: opening bid of 1 of a major shows 4 (or more) cards in the suit. Standard: it shows 5 (or more) cards in the major suit.
