"I've tried to boil it down to its essence." Thank you so much Darrell for doing it this way for us. I, for one would much prefer to learn the essence of a song and expand and/or embellishment on it later, versus trying to tackle a more complicated version of a song right out of the gate. Anyway, thanks again Darrell for taking the time and effort in putting this together and teaching it to us. Much appreciated!!

Finally the perfect tutorial for this piece! I've been searching on and off for about 4 years but they're either too complicated or they talk too much before getting to the point. So I got discouraged but listening to Memories from Maroon 5, I realized it's Canon in D simplified and it got me going. Thank you for all the work you put in to making this wonderful piece accessible to those of us that are not too advanced but want a challenge to improve our craft.
@johnharris73532 жыл бұрын
Yeah I checked out the maroon five song. It is based on Canon. Canon is much better.

Love it! I enjoy this approach to learning new music. Boiling it down to it's essence as you say. I'm trying a similar approach to pieces that require 16ths at like 200bpm. Speaking of tempo, little known fact that everyone knows: If you take Canon, play it in E and twice as fast, you get "Basket Case". Well, close. The chord changes and melodies are in that ballpark. Anyway, another good one, Darrell. 👍👍

Thank you Darrell. I’ve just learned a simplified version of La Malagueña, that I’m now practicing for musicality, & I was looking for another classical piece to learn. Found your arrangement of Cannon in D after quite a bit of searching. Some are too simple, some are too complex, some are even in the wrong key! I love the balance in this arrangement… simple enough that I can approach it, yet it seems to have all the major elements. In my opinion if you stop learning, you die musically, so I thank you for letting my guitar journey continue. Cheers Mr. ❤🎸🇦🇺👏

Love the arrangement, Darrell! Makes me seem more advanced that I actually am. One thing I noticed, however, is that in the opening demo you barred the A major chord with your index finger to make the transition to the B minor chord easier, whereas in the tutorial you used all three fingers on the A and just hopped down to the B.

I am not able to get the Bm chord on time
@ai_serf5 жыл бұрын
its taken me months of practice but i can get it now. One thing to do is try and get tempo going with a drumkit online or some background song, and just make the switch with the beat of the song. The chord won't sound great, but you'll get the timing down, and eventually the switches become more accurate. So you just gotta try and do it in time, in addition to slower precision work.
@ai_serf4 жыл бұрын
why isn't timing, tempo, beats ever discussed during these tutorials? it seems like there's a measure change half way through the song, and it's not even mentioned.
@Gramasz4 жыл бұрын
I know you are right but at least here is written. I'm learning guitar for 1 year and half and the thing I struggled the most is the timing. Not the speed or chord shape or the bar but the damn timing especially using different techniques (pick hammer on and pull off )
