The step by step presentation in this lesson is simply outstanding. You show a step, you repeat it slowly several times, gradually speeding up such that it is very doable to play along with you. The progessive particiaption accelerates the learning process. I have viewed hundreds of KZbin lessons and this has to be among the best I have ever encountered. Really well done Angela. I have subscribed and will definitiely be looking for more of your lessons! I want to play this tune at a jam next weekend, and now I fell I can pull it off! I wll likely play it capo2 and play out of the C position to avoid the B minor bar chord since I'm awful at bar chords! Thanks!

Merle is my favorite country western artist. Way back in 70’ I was in the music hobby shop on the base at Takhli Thailand and found the Merle Haggard Live in Philadelphia album and recorded it to cassette for my dad who was only country & western and I wasn’t at that time. However that album turned me into a fan. I’m in North Eastern California and just found your channel. Here’s one you may not know by Merle, You’ve got a friend in California, 😂 cheers looking forward to your Satisfaction lesson but doubt I’ll catch you live

According to Merle Haggard, this was his favorite song of all the songs he wrote. It was dedicated to his mom. If you know Merle's troubled past before he changed his life, you will understand why. Thank you for showing us how to play it! 👍👍👍

Just found your channel tonight, I love this song and you teach it really well nice and simple, I may hav to get myself an acoustic as for some reason at 60 I cannot get on with my electric anymore. singer songwriter I like is Owen Cambell, and aussie bloke, other than that Joe Bonamassa is well, words fail me, he is very good as I'm sure everyone knows.

Nice intro touch on high E string, grabbing that high C on 1st string (1st time through)...then other strings to finish intro... 'Used to play many of Merle's songs, on stage (requests), or personal....Mama Tried, Okie, Silver Wings, etc. etc. --- "Crossbow", retired? Singer/Songwriter, Publisher, Recording/Sound Engineer, former touring, etc. ---Born Texas, live in Florida, now. ...if you have other guitars playing, and drummer + bass, singer/guitarist can just play 2/4 rhythm "cowboy" chords (more or less) and others can "fill it out", with their "fill-in" rhythm(s). Easy song to play, difficulty is in getting it "right" (to audience's ears). Great job, presentation & explanations !!!

Just got home... long day. I watched your vid again, more closely this time. Your nuances of this song are really good -- kudos....and yeah, your in key of D major, with these chords: I IV V D G A Good job...sounds bright & lively. ...still not sure about that C# note I'm hearing occasionally...gotta be my ears... around a lot of loud noises today. OK, good job. I'm getting some sleep...another long day tomorrow. Great instruction, keep up the good work....
