I'm so happy to find these. So much easier to learn when we can hear it played beforehand. Thanks so much.

Wow ! such a pleasant tune for and yet so easy to grasp. Thank yyou :) Btw, I found it very helpful to slow the video speed to 50% (under settings) and watch the fingers while listening to the tune. Makes it easy to start and stop just where you need to.

I received my first High Spirit Native Flute in Low C minor. What I hadn't figure out is why there are 4 sharps? I was hoping to play my hymnal songs according to their notes as if playing on the piano. Your video helped. Also, I bought 2 song books: Gospel and Christmas books. Both uses 6 holes and I have not learned how to play 5 holes. Should I go ahead and remove the cover #6 hole and learn how to play the 6 holes?

Hey Vicki! To play along with the songbooks, we do recommend that you remove the hole cover and play your flute as a 6-hole flute. Unfortunately, we do not have any songbooks for the 5-hole flute option.

I’m assuming the numbers below are the seconds to play that note ?
@HighSpiritsFlutes4all9 ай бұрын
The numbers below refer to the time signature which is 3/4. This means three (3) quarter notes (4) per measure. So when the number 1 is below a note that means it is a quarter note and takes up one of three beats in the measure. The number 2 is for half notes, which take up 2 beats in the measure. Where it has 1/2 are for eighth notes, so when two are next to each other they are twice as fast as quarter notes, together taking up one whole beat of the measure. If that is confusing, simply follow along with the melody and you will learn the rhythm and notes together.

I don't know if you will see this comment now but if so, I have a question as a new flute player. I purchased a High Spirits A- flute and just learning. So, my question? When you play each note, are you just blowing into the flute and making the sounds with the sound holes OR are you using your tongue to emphasis the notes OR both? I first starting doing it using my tongue to add a "th" to clarify the note and count but then realized I could just blow into the flute except where there are two of the same notes in a row - so to differentiate them do you use your tongue OR just pause the breath and blow again? Im not sure if I am explaining my question well but there it is. Thank you!

Hello. There is a combination of what you have described. Our best recommendation is to go through the how-to videos on our KZbin channel: kzbin.info/aero/PLh7L956bTX7Z2v0L8G-VwLFdnab2gmwJ4

I love that he's teaching these songs. But I don't understand why he has the camera on himself when he's playing the song and not on the sheet music? I couldn't even see the sheet music. What was I supposed to do? Memorize the song before he plays it in order to play along... Gesh.... Not the way I would have edited it.

If you go to highspirits.com/pages/learn-to-play-flute-song and scroll down, you can click on "Tablature/Sheet Music - Flute Song" and it will open the tablature, which can be downloaded/printed.

Hello, on the sheet music do the numbers at the bottom of each note mean, example 1, 3, 2, 1/2 etc?
@HighSpiritsFlutes4all2 ай бұрын
Those reference the time signature, to help know how long each note is played before moving to the next one. In 3/4 time, there are three quarter notes each bar/measure. When you see a 2, that means two of three beats in that bar/measure are the length of that note. When you see 1/2, those are eight notes, with twice as many beats as would fit in one quarter note.
