As a protestant. I deeply admire what has been said here. Thank you. I little bit struggled, about how to pray Jesus prayer for others or if I should and how much pray for others and yes any prayer I say always affects me and helps others too. We should pray for everyone and think less about us.

As a Protestant you reject what this man represents. Your religion teaches that you can interpret the Word of God how you see fit. Orthodoxy isn’t an a la carte theology where you can adopt what you like and reject what you don’t.

As an Orthodox Christian, living in state of "unceasing prayer" is very difficult, but equally worthwhile. I highly recommend books like "On the Prayer of Jesus" by Ignatius Brianchaninov and "Writings from the Philokalia: On the Prayer of the Heart" by E. Kadloubovsky for help in this endeavor. St. Joseph the Hesychast, St. Paisios the Athonite, and St. Gregory Palamas offer some great help in their writings as well. God bless ☦️

Thank you for uploading this and transcribing so we can understand the teachings 🙏 Can you advise how to pray to the Saint of the day if using old calendar (as we do in Serbia) most mobile apps use the new calendar to mark the Saint feast day. Is my prayer annulled if praying 2 weeks later using old calendar dates? 🇷🇸 ☦️🙏

I do respect the elder’s wisdom and teachings. However various Russian saints such as St. Ignatius Brianchaninov and St. Theophan the Recluse also explicitly advise the Jesus Prayer during all the Divine Services in order to enter into them more deeply and understand them more clearly.

@Moskal91 The holly fathers are telling us to pray the Jesus prayer unceasingly. if we pray the right way, true humility , the mind can pray eaisly and still listen to the liturgy. When I pray the Jesus prayer during the liturgy, I'm understanding the liturgy ten times more. my mind becomes one. if I don't pray the Jesus prayer my mind is abstracted and I don't feel the grace.

@christoskelaiditis653 We, as Orthodox Christians, follow Christ's instruction on saying the Lord' prayer multiple times per day, but we also say the Jesus prayer (Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, a sinner) throughout the day. In a way, saying the Jesus prayer answers the call in Matthew 4:17 with the goal of constant repentance. We can also see in John 17 that Jesus doesn't strictly limit prayer to the Lord's prayer, but rather uses the Lord's prayer as an antidote for bad prayer. I highly recommend reading the saint's commentaries on the Jesus prayer.
