@adamkahn8645
@adamkahn8645 4 жыл бұрын
if he used an 81, it wouldve been more challenging to hear the dynamics in the way your hands control the sound of the guitar. too much compression not to mention you dont have to work very hard to get clean pinch harms with the actives either. if you really want to examine your playing, you have to use passives. Actives really mask a lot of unwanted sounds, and can mask whether your technique is spot on or not. it doesnt happen as badly in the new Fishman Fluence active pickups, but its still there. I learned just how lazy a player I was technique wise when I converted everything over to Lundgren Black Heavens. I encourage everyone to at least TRAIN on passives, so that when you do end up using actives when you perform, you can really benefit from "clean" playing

Thank you very much! I've practiced this today, it's really great! I love how it progresses from very early beginner stages to something an intermediate player should master. Also it's great as a warmup routine. And the format is really really killer, because it's not only one or two separate licks or riffs, it's a straightforward and dumbproof little program you really can do daily. So thank you again and please do an intermediate player follow-up, it's huge help to us! Just please keep the difficulty level under control, going up smoothly from last bits of that video to the next, and throughout the new one!

Definitely more of a drummer than a guitar player, but as I've mentioned on past videos, The Impossibility of Reason was absolutely essential in helping me pick guitar up and understand the fundamentals. I'll have to give this lesson a try when I have access to more guitars. Also, this guitar has a very interesting tonal quality to it, not sure if its just the contrast from your other ESPs I'm used to hearing but I love the sound of it. Would love to hear it clean.

Cool man, I remember sitting in my basement for hours doing shit like this (25 years ago cough) just to get a good clear palm mute and chug sound. Same idea on the acoustic where I'd spend hours just practicing variations of strumming. This is something I find overlooked when first starting out but extremely important if you want to sound good. I would also practice rolling my palm on the bridge and experimenting with the different sounds I'd get from it as even that varies with good players. Good to see this being brought up dude.

Cool vid Rob. I remember you showing this guitar when you did the guitar walkthrough of you *keep at home during Quarantine* rundown, and I was curious how it sounded. Sounds killer. FYI; I love the control/knob layout/single pickup setup you have on all of your guitars. I get my guitars done the same way. Drives me absolutely insane when manufacturers put the volume knob RIGHT in the way of the picking hand. It has baffled me for years, so to see I'm not the only one makes me feel a little less crazy. You never said that to be able to get that tight with your playing you will also need a noise gate to stop the string feedback when you mute them? Or at least you need a decent pickup installed in your guitar to help with that?
@RobArnoldWorld
@RobArnoldWorld 4 жыл бұрын
Ahh.. but check this out... I feel like I learned to play tight LONG before I ever even knew what a noise gate was. To prove your point though, I would say you need a noise gate IF you're playing with a super high gain amplifier! I also feel like pickups have nothing to do with tight playing. Pickups, noise gates, scale lengths, amps, etc., are all things one should think about AFTER they learn to play clean. 🎸 You can't fight like a ninja just because you have a ninja sword. 🤘

Hi Rob, love the channel & very informative. I own a few custom & signature series ESP's but I don't have a strat style guitar though,like most i enjoy playing metal & rock. Why do you love the modern strat shape guitars from ESP as opposed to a vintage fender? Is the construction, feel and tone of the guitar comparable to a vintage fender(if you've played any) or is the ESP versions a "repurposed strat" with the characteristics of a M or KH guitar?

Hi man, big fan of your music and love your stuff. I have a couple of questions. Would you ever get into the Producing, mixing, engineering or mastering business, maybe in the future? What's your advice to someone like myself who can play guitar well, has a really deep passion for music but can't seem to find band members? And what do you think is the most important thing about trying to achieve that unique, personal, signiture guitar sound? Hope your keeping well!

Is that your Six Feet Under guitar? I liked this video it was cool, can you do one that is more like in a standard 1/2 step down tuning? Drop D is cool but I think when you use it a lot it loses its heaviness. Kind of like how Pantera only used it once in awhile for that extra heaviness.

@@RobArnoldWorld Yea same. You don't happen to know a neat trick or device to help detect where those interferences are coming from? Otherwise I'd have to walk around the house with a plugged guitar and point the pickups in random directions hoping to find the source of the humming.
