Thank you so much for this!!! You answered so many questions I had. I' m running my TMP thru a powerstage into two Marshall cabs. I didn't know about the sic and thought there was something missing!!! This video has totally changed my way of thinking and hearing my rig.

Hey Rob, huge huge fan and love the channel and Chimaira. I see you are playing the same riff in two different ways. The first bar (0:12 to 0:16) you are sliding power chords around then the second bar (0:21 to 0:26) you are playing the same riff by doing a stretchy thing with the fingers. I'm learning and also mostly play in drop C (I'm assuming this song is drop c). Would you mind explaining what you did there to get the same notes using different fingering? No theory needed, just high level. 🙏🤘

What do you have your volumes set at? I’m having issues with mine being to high possibly and I have to crank down on the gate to much. Just curious where you are on both volumes on the head, your preset volume and your master volume. Thanks!

I have a favor to ask. At some point in the future when you use that Jackson for another video, I would love to see that fret board with a fresh coat of lemon oil to bring out the figure in the wood. That line running down the middle of it sets that guitar apart from any other Jackson I've ever seen and being obsessed with both wood and guitars, that would make my day.

Go check out Glenn Gricker at Spectre sound studios. He did a video about all of this and it was extremly clear that the biggest difference in tone was which speakers you were running rather than what pickup... especially with high gain. He ran his examples thru a full mix and like this video theres basically no difference in tone.

I'm honestly pretty surprised by how good that thing sounds. In general, you can have my tube amps when you pry them from my cold dead fingers, but the modeling stuff has the capacity to allow people to do jobs they otherwise wouldn't be able to, and that can't be a bad thing. Cheers, and great video.

Hello, thank you for the video! I’m curious, how do you know when to make the adjustments at the bridge rather than at the neck with the truss rod?
@RobArnoldWorld
@RobArnoldWorld 20 сағат бұрын
Personally, I see if I can make all the adjustments I need to make with the truss rod first. Sometimes though, that isn't enough, and then I'll move on to adjusting the bridge height. Occasionally, you can tell where the biggest adjustment needs to be made just through inspection. Meaning, if your bridge looks way too high, perhaps it may be better to just lower it first and then see where you need to go from there.

After 4 decades of messing with guitar processors and amps, this is the solution. Preamp matters very little in terms of replicating the feel of an amp. You can take a pretty shitty guitar processor and power it with tubes and it will come alive. Not saying it will suddenly sound great but it will FEEL infinitely better. So far, NOTHING that I have found (yet) will replace tube power section for feel. I go as far back as 1980's with a roland GP8, ADA-1, Digitech 2101, Rocktron Chameleon, a billion amps, combo, boogie cab powered with rack tube amp, solid state power amps blah blah blah. My current favorite amp because I no longer play on the road is a fender superchamp x2. digital preamp, tube power amp. This is the secret to the best of both worlds. Yes, it was heavy AF but I had a Peavey 60/60 6l6 tube rackmount amp and that thing provided so much "meat" and feel. So now, I don't even bother with SS power. Yes, I've tried a quilter and it could not feel more square and lifeless to me, and I've tried so many SS amps both combo and rackmount hoping and praying someone had figured it out but goddamnit, there simply is still no way to obtain that lower mid meat and balls. A relevant question is, how much difference does it make in the mix? Probably not as much as we think but I play much better when I feel that yummy tube power. everything just feels more alive. I never played metal but I don't think that matters much. Almost certainly even more applicable for metal. so, there you go. you want the best of both worlds? you can have it. you just have to be willing to carry it. I recently obtained a used 50/50 Peavey rack amp for like fiddy bucks lol. sounds great but I wish I had not sold the 60/60. the 50/50 has EL84's instead of the 6L6 I prefer. More experience saying the same thing: when the Fender mustang series came out, I had already sold my 4x12 boogie cab because my band/touring days were over and my business was getting to busy. I still wanted something to replace my also recently sold 2101 rack processor (yes, a long time ago). I was very pumped at the thought of the mustang because it could do it all (supposedly) and was perfect for playing at home. Went to GC, tried the smallest and was sooooo bummed. absolutely zero meat. kept trying the next biggest amp hoping more watts would fix the problem till I tried the biggest one they had. actually started getting pissed lol. I thanked the dude at GC (by then, I knew him well after years of buying shit when I was "touring" (regional band - so from florida to occasional new york and everything in between)). he said "well, we have the same thing but in a floor pedal so no power and its only $200. you can always return it and test it froo your tube amp". My face acquired a pensive look while I considered his words. Is there any sales tactic more effective than the famous "you can always return it" LOL. I brought it home, plugged into a tube head powering a 2x12 which I had recently acquired and holy shitballs!!!! there was that difference again. Kinda like I had forgotten the special sauce of digital preamp + tube power (and yes, I realize some of my earlier preamp/effect processors were not analogue but it still applies). It turned a flat caca lame sound/feel into something fairly respectable. So, I learned my lesson again. then bought the superchamp x2 about 8 years ago and same thing. just no substitute for tube power section .......yet. Although I must admit I am shocked they haven't figured that out yet. oh well........... disclosure: I have played for a very long time but am far from an expert, not a phenomenal player, but I know what feels good to me and feel is as important to me as tone.

It's all personal preference and subjective but for me the Dimarzio's and Seymour had more high mids and had a punch to them that the EMG didn't. I always preferred Blackouts over the 81's and if I am going active prefer Fluence over both. I personally though am a Passive player overall. Still either way your tone is solid and I can tell your happy with it so that's what matters!
