Why are some swaras written in the lower case?

The swaras written in small case are faster than the ones in capital letters In a 4 beat cycle, the swaras the follow one beat is like G S R G while multiple swaras that are under one beat are written in small case (1- g r, 2 - S, 3 - R, 4 - g s)
