I have enjoyed your videos. I'm getting more educated. Your life journey has been beautiful. Hearing you now v. an older video I just watched,I noticed even your speaking voice changed with your weight loss. I'm a big girl, how or why does weight loss change the sound of our voice. And how does that change how we sing and how do accommodate it?
@worshipvocalist8 ай бұрын
Thank you for the encouragement! Excess weight definitely took a toll on my voice, causing fatigue - that's probably what you're hearing in older videos! My best recommendation is to aim for a healthy weight, even if it's slow and steady to get there!

Thank you for the tutorial! How often should I practice and how do i know if i am practicing too much? I am new to singing and would like to start singing better. Thanks for sharing! God Bless
@worshipvocalist9 ай бұрын
You're welcome! I recommend practicing 5 days per week. If your voice gets tired and feels strained, that's a good sign of practicing too much. If you feel that, take a day or two off of singing and then come back to it!

I struggle with singing harmony when I'm using in-ear monitors. I can sing harmonies confidently in the congregation and acoustic settings and along with the radio, but somehow when I'm hooked up to the sound system, I feel lost. Do you have any tips for that? I don't know exactly what the problem is. Maybe it has to due with latency? My last worship leading was cringe worthy😮💨 I have to figure this out!
@worshipvocalist4 ай бұрын
Aw! Sorry it's been a challenge! Usually it has to do with the levels that you have in your in-ears - if you are singing harmony you will need the melody as well as the main melodic instrument (ex keyboard) turned up loudly in your ears.

Either when I sing solo in church or even when I casually play the chords and sing at home, I have felt my throat stick together at times. Why does this happen and how can I help myself out of this?
@worshipvocalist10 ай бұрын
It sounds like you may not be warmed up enough - I would recommend doing a long, slow vocal warmup before you sing!
@angeladraper696010 ай бұрын
I sing the harmony that’s being played by the piano often. I’m paranoid I’m not singing the right part. I play the piano by ear. People say they like our singing on Sundays. The other lady singing with us sings alto and I think I hear the part in between the melody and her part. Is that possible? I’m insecure hoping and thinking I sing in the right place.
@worshipvocalist10 ай бұрын
Hi Angela! Yes, for some songs there is a harmony part between the melody and an alto harmony; for other songs, there wouldn't be enough space (pitches) for there to be a harmony part. Keep practicing - you'll become more confident!

I don’t really believe if the Almighty cares about harmony, He is a spirit and cherish our worship with out heart. If we sing in the right spirits, it will please Him even if we sing the wrong notes, let alone with no harmony. Although I have to agree singing with harmony is more pleasing to the human ears particularly those who are musically trained. But you musically trained have to be aware that be able to sing with harmony is not a skill that most people are born with, it is a learned skill. So you singing group leaders, if you are not able to train people and build them up, do NOT demand it. I left the church choir because the leader demanded 4 part harmony and I supposed to be the “Tenor”. I told her I did not know what I was singing. She said, just listen to people next to you and sing along. It drove me crazy and left.
@worshipvocalistАй бұрын
Hi! I'm sorry to hear that was your experience singing in the church! That is not the Lord's heart, to hurt or demand. God absolutely does look on our hearts and He cherishes yours!
@salomenzunge8642Ай бұрын
Did you ever wonder why David's was different from others? Why did King Saul preferred his? God deserves the Best of bests. Honor God with the very best of your skills. Give Him "perfection". He deserves it. Though He looks into our hearts, may we give Him both hearts and mindfulness.
@salomenzunge8642Ай бұрын
Dear, I had to pray to God to help me find my way. Cause my worship leaders were just like "follow the rest who know". I was hurting and I wanted to be sure of what I am doing. I tell you, I had to pray through search and search and watched many videos then definitely found my comforts and realized I could sing solo, soprano, alto and Tenor at different times and when needed.
