Excellent explanations. Thank you. This made my brain sweat😅 I thought ‘when’ would be one word and I’ve discovered from your superb lesson that it isn’t a word, but an additional suffix😳 I will be watching this multiple times to process this.

Great video, as always! Just a question: in the second 19:14 why can't we use "istediginde"?
@LearnTurkishvia7 ай бұрын
If we write "istediğinde" that means "WHEN you want" but in that sentence, we are trying to give the meaning "WHENEVER you want" and for that expression, we need to use "istediğin zaman".

This was a very good lesson! Thank very much for sharing your knowledge. Why in the last sentence only the 'zaman' form can be used? Are we going to encounter many situations like this one, or is it more the exception to this rule?
@LearnTurkishvia Жыл бұрын
Merhabalar. In the last sentence the meaning is like "whenever you want" which is a rare form. And in this form we use only '-dığı zaman".

Thank you very much. Very good explanation! I have got one question though: is the form with -ken a synonym? Can it be used interchangeably with these two forms of "when"?
@LearnTurkishvia Жыл бұрын
Merhabalar. They are not interchangeable. Roughly we can say that -ken is "while" and -dık is "when".

What's the difference between using this tense and -İncE suffix for zarf fiil?
@russellh8149 Жыл бұрын
Quick question, and I apologize if I overlooked it. Is there a rule about using “her” (each or every) and this grammar form? My Turkish teacher said that any time we use “her” we cannot use “ -dik + zaman”. Is that correct?
@LearnTurkishvia Жыл бұрын
Your teacher is right. Her gittiğim zaman (yanlış) Her gittiğimde (doğru)

I am confused about the possessive suffix for ‘dinlemediğinde’ I thought it should read ‘Dinlemediğimde’ as in first person ‘me’ when ‘my’ students didn’t listen Thanks in advance V
@LearnTurkishvia Жыл бұрын
It is not "me", it is "my students = them". (When they don't listen)
