I live in Bandera, Texas, the "Cowboy Capital of the World." I'm learning how to play country music from a Brit across the pond. The humorous irony of this is not lost on me :). But who cares! Levi, you're the Brent Mason of the UK and this is my all-time favorite KZbin channel. I bought your country compilation and working my way through it, realizing how much I suck at rhythm guitar (and I was a bass player for 35 years) and how much this course is helping me be a better guitar player. Long live the Tele, and thank you for the content, Levi!

I did buy 100 Licks For Country Guitar…Highly recommended! Excellent book, worth the reasonable price for the Paisley, Voelkert, and Chet licks alone!

Excellent lesson, very well explained and really great that you work thru the lesson in context of each chord. And then re-playing it with a backing track to bring it all fully together. Context gets lost so many times in lessons. Learned a lot. Thanks

I think you are used to good compliments, but I must give you an absolute full 100% as well. It's been 30 years and just played occasionally for myself. With your lessons, I have progressed so much, that people are requesting me to play.....all honors to you bud...thanks a million!

Country is my favorite music yet the hardest for me to figure out 🤦♂️. I can pick out old tunes like hank Williams SR. I just hunt the notes by ear and play the melody like my guitar is singing the words. I play the words. But newer country doesn’t play out the word melody it’s just a bunch of flailing random licks tied together. It just doesn’t click in my head 🤦♂️

Mr. Clay.....good beginners approach to country guitar....and the fact you focus on licks over specific chords. Instead of the usual instructional KZbin videos just playing arbitrary licks or phrases that aren't associated with a specific chord. So someone may not know the chord or chords. Licks can be used in a variety of chord configuration. But it would be nice to get a solid framework before venturing into deep water. Might be very interested in your 100 Country licks for guitar...if you are applying the same approach of telling or stating what licks are working/played on what chords....as long as the 100 ideas have a specific chord association. Better yet if you are....using or applying those 100 country licks through the entire "CHORDAL" progression. Backing tracks examples. If not....that's fine. Can someone preview that 100 Country Licks for guitar instructional video before purchasing. To get an idea. Again...if not fine. I don't want to waste your time or my money. Respectfully...

Hey Michael I’ll be honest, my 100 country licks book is still my favourite book, because it’s so much more than a lick book. It’s a study on 20 players, how they play, studying their stuff over chords and THEN applying those licks over different chords and progressions, I make new solos out of the licks learned!

@@LeviClay .... This is and overseas venture .. What are you asking...cost/ shipping Could provide all necessary details if you wish. Last concern ...hope this isn't alot of 6ths or 3rds licks...kinda old stuff. Good stuff but a little outdated Like to see ...runs ascending/descending not necessarily the same lick going up or down.. incorporating open strings Albert Lee style chord arpeggiated like a banjo roll....or Danny Gatton style chord arpeggiated none of this is ever shown...by anyone. Usually done over a jazz voiced chord or unique voiced chord. All due respect Levi you must or probably have material that's covering decent country guitar and I honestly do like your chord/ Lick association...it's good theory. Instead of a bunch of licks with no chord foundation. State your costs...we'll see. Thanks again...for your timely response.... very appreciated. Cordially.....

not even using an amp! It's a kemper profiler DrZ maz18 profile, little reverb, and that's it!

Thnx👍 may I ask - is there any rule of using major and minor pentatonics? Why I am asking - I though by major chord I have to play major pentatonic but sometimes minor pentatonic sounds much better, thnx for reaction - short explanation and greetings from 🇨🇿🥃👍😂
@LeviClay4 ай бұрын
There are no rules in music, music theory describes things, it doesn’t tell you what to do. People with a real connection to music play what they like the sound of!
