The thing is, did you dry the first layer before putting on the blue for the water? Im a beginner😃 thanks

There was no break in filming at that point you're asking about. He did say to dry it at 3:55, after the blue for the water. Opine the reason is to avoid the darker boat colors bleeding into the blues, since the wet areas would be overlapping and the pigments naturally move. The transitions from sky to water are intentional, gradual, and look more realistic with it. I am a beginner, too. I've spent a while watching watercolorists to understand the behavior of the paints and how to avoid unwanted effects, (during the wait before and after wrist surgery). When I watch videos, I note breaks that may indicate drying was done, *plus* any unusual changes to manipulate brush bristles to mimic a specialty brush/apply textures. This is really helpful when video is in another language with/without translation. Noticed they didn't speak of it, simply demonstrated only.
