With the envelope features in mind we experiment with the default routings to the amp and filter sections, and looping an envelope.
In this series of videos you'll join me as I learn the ins and outs of the ASM Hydrasynth (Explorer). I've had it for about one month and used it to a limited degree alongside reading the manual. I'll demonstrate my end to end learning and exploration process starting with the basics of how to use the synth, through all the features, and ending with some sound design demonstrations.

Amazing. Loving the series. So happy I came back. This last patch you created. I have spend an hour riffing on it. First time I really was able to just close my eyes and just play. Thanks again!

Thanks for your comment, and for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed the patch. The ability to make expensive patches is one of the strong suits of the Hydrasynth. Hopefully you'll make many more that inspire you!

Great series, have been watching them all. Some nice little tips and tricks in them! Things you (read I) tend to overlook.

Thanks for your comment, and for watching. I try my best to touch on everything in each section, my hope being it'll help people who are new to the synth, as well as augment/refresh things for long term users.

Would like to see you explaining stepped lfo’s

Thanks for watching, and for your comment. The next two episodes go through the features of the LFOs, including the step LFO, though I don't necessarily demonstrate that feature in great depth. After I make my way through the core features (still got the mod matrix, and macros to cover) I'll bring things together and make a few patches. I'll make sure to include a deeper look at the step LFOs in one of those.

I combined two step LFO's where one plays the notes and the other controls the mixer volume for the oscillator. Doing that, I could mute certain steps. Really powerful!

@@GertBoers I've experimented with that and it's definitely fun, but I find the workflow quite awkward if you need particular steps muted (jumping between two separate step edits). A thing I've enjoyed is doing this with BPM synced LFOs and different step counts (e.g 7 vs 8) alongside poly trigger. This means you get decoupling of gate and pitch allowing for much more sequence variation with less need for planning.

How do you assign an env with fast attack and fast decay to OSC 1 and an env as a pad to OSC 2? It's possible? How to do?

Thanks for watching and for your comment. You can use the mod matrix to modulate the mixer levels for each oscillator; you should set the mixer level for the oscillator itself to zero first so the mixer can be closed fully when the envelope closes. Remember that the amp envelope is still in effect so you probably also want to set that (env 2) to no (or very short) attack, no decay, max sustain and long release. You have another interesting option if you are doing this; you can set the filters to be parallel (you probably want to enable key tracking on filter 2 too) then route one Oscillator to filter 1 and one to filter 2; this, combined with the previous suggestion, effectively lets you design 2 sounds (with separate Oscillator filter and envelopes) that are layered. Also I checked out some of your music: some very nice compositions!

@@ChalkWalkMusic I already do everything you kindly told me... it's useless, I can't, neither I not a friend who has the same problem. I tried all the combinations of the Env with the mixer, volumes and more in the mod matrix. Nothing to do! A tutorial would be needed, anyway thanks for your help, because no one shows what I ask, all the tutorials on youtube show how to do relative things and with just one ENV.

@@ChalkWalkMusic each ENV is strictly linked to the shape of ENV 2, I can't use it! Even putting (ENV3/Mixer/OSC2Vol/128) in the matrix binds to env 2
@ChalkWalkMusic

@@salvoreitano74 I think there is one thing you missed in my reply: all the signals always pass through the Amp, which is always linked to Env 2. You therefore need to change the shape of Env 2 to one that allows all the other signals to pass through; set the attack and decay to zero, sustain to maximum and release to something much longer than any of the envelopes you use per oscillator. I recommend you use Env 3 and Env 4 for the mixer levels (as they have no normally routed functions). In your example, be sure to turn Osc 2 volume down to 0 in the mixer as well.

@@ChalkWalkMusic Really serious, I finally succeeded, of course I used the decay to less than 300 on ENV 2, now I understand the function of ENV 2. Thank you for your reply and I wish you a lot of luck. You are the best
